Hello there!

My name is Sophia and I am 17, although I will be 18 by the time I am looking to start my position as an Au Pair or Nanny. I like to think I am kind, caring, loyal, patient and adaptive. I have 2 dogs, called Holly and Daisy and have had many other pets including fish and rabbits. I also have a younger sister. I speak English fluently and German to GCSE level (equivalent to B1).

I want to become an Au Pair and/or Nanny as I love working with children but also love getting to know people. Whilst I have thoroughly enjoyed working in a pre-school, I would love to get to know a family on a more personal level, and would love to able to spend more time with the child/ren as I become part of their 'village'. I think being an Au Pair and/or Nanny would help me develop a range of life skills ranging from cooking on a larger scale and organising more lives to learning how to navigate the world. I also love being able to watch children learn and grow, knowing I was part of it.

Why should you host me? I am reliable, kind, patient, hardworking, adaptive and most importantly, I find working with children as something that comes naturally to me. I'd love to become a part of your family's 'village' and help your children to grow whilst experiencing the world. I know it says I don't have a driving license or swim but I am learning to do both!

I believe I am qualified for the position but understand that there is always opportunities to become more qualified and more experienced. I have looked after children of many ages, from a 9 month old little girl up to a 10 year old young girl. I have experience with a range of SEND needs including autism, ADHD, speech delay, defiance disorder and global development delay. Moving on to the official qualifications, I have a range of GCSEs including, Higher Maths, Sociology and English. I have recently gained my Level 3 Paediatric First Aid certificate and Level 2 Childcare. In September 2024, I started my Level 3 Childcare as an apprenticeship and although this means, gaining the qualification will take longer to gain, it means I get to spend more time doing my favourite part, working with children.

Experiência com crianças

I have limited experience as an Au Pair and/or Nanny but have had lots of experience working with pre-school age children and babysitting for a wide age range of children. I have nannied for a family with a 3 year old girl, who has speech delays, and 12 year old boy, who has ADHD and Dyslexia, although I mainly cared for the 3 year old girl. I collected the 3 year old from her nursery at 12:45pm, walked home with her, prepared snack and then looked after her until either her Mum or Dad got home around 3:45pm. I also looked after a 9 month old baby girl frequently, supporting with bedtime, typically after looking after her for up to 4 hours. Other families I have worked with included, twin boy/girl 4 year olds and their 6 year old brother, a 3 year old boy (speech delay and ADHD) and his 9 year old sister (ASD, ADHD) and a 4 year old girl with her 8 year old sister.

I would like to become an Au Pair and/or Nanny abroad as I believe that I can gain a better understanding of people by getting to know people in many different countries. I also believe it is beneficial for children to know people from countries and cultures that are different to their own. My parents frequently had students from different countries and cultures including Japan, Luxembourg and Spain, welcomed into our home growing up and I believe it helped me to understand the world around me better.

I love working with children and would love to experience working with children in a different country. I'd like to become an Au Pair and/or Nanny rather than a babysitter as I enjoy building relationships and want to feel part of the community and family that I am with/in.
