I was an au pair in 2020 to a family with three boys, aged 2, 4 and 6. They lived in the countryside in Scotland. This was during the pandemic, so the parents worked from home and I was tasked with looking after them during the parents’ work hours and also the occasional afternoon that they spent away from home. I am the youngest in my immediate family, so I was never asked to look after any younger siblings, but that just makes me more excited to be a big sister to someone. We do have a few younger nieces and nephews in our extended family, and I was always happy to look after them and play with them.
