My name is Venla and i'm 18 years old and I'll turn 19 in April 2024. I'm from Finland. I'm graduating high school in June 2024 and i'm thinking of having a gap year. My native language is Finnish but I can speak English fluently. I've also been studying Swedish for couple of years now because it's mandatory in Finland (Fun fact it's our second native language). I'd consider that my Swedish level is B1 but one of my goals this year is to become fluent in Swedish. I'm willing to learn the native language of my Au Pair host family. My hobbies are travelling, skiing, photography, arts and crafts, cooking and baking and also reading. I also love being in nature. For example hiking, swimming and outdoor activities are very important to me. Last year I traveled to France, Sweden and England. I traveled to London for a concert alone so it was my first solo travel ever.
I want to become an Au Pair because I love travelling, new cultures and languages but also kids. I think that being an Au Pair would be perfect job for me. I'd love to be an Au Pair because I want to learn about different cultures. I've been thinking about studying cultural studies in university after my gap year so I think that shows my passion for travelling and cultures. I want to improve myself and go out of my comfort zone. I'd also love to gain more versatile job experience. I'd like to experience different holidays with new culture. For example halloween and Christmas if you celebrate them. These are very important for kids so it would be nice to experience them with children and be apart of it with them.
The reason why I think you should host me is because I come along with kids so well. I as well can do housework. And as I stated before i'm responsible and productive person. I can handle difficult situations very well and don't panic when one comes.

In 2019-2020 I was a instructor for this group of over 10 kids. My job was to plan day in a week for them to play different games and sports. The games varied for week to week. Sometimes we might've played football or sometimes we played games such as hide and seek.
I've worked in a flower shop for two weeks. In Finland we have this mandatory getting to know work life period in upper comprehensive school. So that is why I picked flower shop for my getting to know work life period. My job tasks varied from day to day and had different tasks each day but my main tasks was to keep the store clean, set the price for new products, and organize the shop.
Last summer (2023) I worked in a amusement park as a operator for the rides. I was specialized in the rides what were meant for the smallest kids of the family. I helped the little kids to get on the rides and get of them. I also made sure that everyone had their seat belts on. There was also this inside playground that I was responsible for. My job there was to make sure that everyone had their socks on and followed the rules so that no accidents could happen. I was also selling socks and ride tickets if someone needed to buy them.
In September 2023 I started working in a convenience store. My job was of course be on the cash register but there is so much more with working as a cashier. Depending if I had morning or night shift I opened or closed the store. I kept the store clean and unwrapped the load.
I'd say all this job experience has made me social person. I think that i'm also very responsible and productive person. I have great tolerance of pressure and I can handle difficult situations. Even though I don't have childcare experience that much I still think that all these qualities are beyond important when being with kids.
