I'm Leila Mae, 22 years old, a fresh college graduate who dreams to explore the world. I always enjoy walking and watching Korean dramas, and whenever I'm with my nieces and younger cousins, I always make it a priority to take them on a walk, play, or babysit them because I aspire to be the fun and cool aunt or older cousin. But kidding aside, I have been asking for a sign this past 2 years when it is the right time to apply to become an Au pair, and I saw the sign that I was hoping for, and this is the right time. I want to fulfill my dreams, which include learning about other cultures and sharing mine. I have always been curious about the other side of the world, and I would love to solve my curiosity with the host families who want to host me.
The reason why host families should hire me is that I enjoy learning and sharing. I would love to share my Filipino hospitality and hard work. If I were their first Filipino au pair, I would love to be their first, so they could have many more Filipino aspiring au pairs who share the amazing qualities that I have.
I may not have nanny experience as a job, but being the "family nanny" holds a different meaning for me. It means that my aunts and cousins who have kids trust me to be with their children. My educational background in teaching has helped me learn how to effectively interact with kids. And also, my teaching internship, which helped me to care for and facilitate so many personalities, is such an advantage, which means I can handle a lot of kids and still be inclusive, whatever their needs are.
