My name is Alec. I am a nineteen year old man and I live in Tauranga, New Zealand, a far Southern island in the Pacific.
I have been known to all those that I have grown close to throughout the years as a very reliable, organized, punctual, and responsible young man. Despite my young age (in comparison to other Au Pair candidates) I have been obligated to mature earlier than most in order to care for myself and others.

I have grown up in a relatively happy family with two parents and an older brother. Throughout my later younger years my family split and I was left to pick up the pieces for myself and to continue pushing my education despite difficulties. These troublesome times had made me learn to appreciate a happy and stable family life. In recent years I have managed to make repair relationships in my family and make peace with the life around me while always aiming to allow my aspirations to thrive.

In seeing my own families troubles I aim to both give back to the world ,for the handful of people that chipped in to aiding my in my time of need, and experience the world. Upon hearing of Au Pair I see it as the perfect way to accomplish just that. In whatever way possible I wish for children to both develop their roots within a happy and supportive family and to grow their own understanding of the outer world. I hope to do my part to contribute to other childhoods. My father had always invited foreign strangers off the road to give them a bed, some food, and some work. This exposed me to more cultures and perspectives on life. I only wish to give that same opportunity to other children.

I have graduated from secondary school (in our country it is called a college) at Otumoetai College. I graduated with generally high marks and a passion for psychology, sociology, and biology. Before attending in Universities I hope to expose myself to the rest of the world to gain further clarity in my life, and perhaps more specifically to what I would like to study.

I have volunteered at an After-school program for a number of years called Waimarino Education Trust where we care for kids after school for a few hours and in the process teach them to deal with social issues, regulating their emotions, and exposing them to our surrounding environments E.G. the river, the forest, the farmland, the estuary, etc. And as I write this letter I am currently working at Camp Shohola in the USA in which I care for children 24/7 for two months out in the forest beside a lake. This involves managing their activities, helping them with challenges, and teaching them fresh new skills in the outdoors. Of course the job has involved a few sleepless nights, wary eyes, and managing the few temper tantrums for the children. With my experience at Waimarino and my current challenging experience at Camp Shohola, I am learning to perfect my managing skills for children by relating with them and teaching them to be independent.

I would gladly join any family that would happily take me in as a small part of their family. I would love to learn of your countries culture within the context of your family. I am looking for a family to work for some months ( I am flexible) and that I can form some great connections all around the globe.
