I have a real love for travel and experiencing different cultures, with the ambition of improving my French language skills this summer. Having previously worked in child care and spent the winter working in a children's hotel I have developed a passion for nurturing and supporting children, and find this really rewarding.
I have been working with children for the past four years, originally babysitting the children of family friends which led to being a classified carer for an autistic non-verbal little boy for the council. Although caring for a disabled child came with its challenges, as his communication skills were very limited and he could get overwhelmed very easily, I found doing activities such as sensory play and taking him on trips to the park extremely rewarding, especially when I could witness him developing such as him improving his communication through staring to point to items of his desire and show me things which he liked, as we developed a close bond. During my last two years of school I ran a drama club on a lunchtime for the younger years, which brought me a lot of joy as I was able to share my love of drama with them and see the enjoyment in which it brought them. I also have a younger sister who I adore and spend most of my spare time with and although our six year age gap I would consider my best friend.
On my ski season I work at a hotel which caters towards school holidays which naturally comes along with a lot of interaction with children, from serving their meals and hearing how their days have been to helping out with apres activities such as winter games, I adore the fun and upbeat atmosphere that goes in hand with working with children in this way.
