Carta a la familia

Dear Host Family,

I am thrilled to offer my services to you as your Au Pair! I am a passionately creative, clean, balanced, hardworking supporter and leader with a knack for adaptability and excelling under pressure. I love working with children and crafting an environment where they will thrive as they grow. As your Au Pair, I will bring my love for storytelling, self-expression, positive thinking, and dream building into the time I spend with your child/ren, ensuring that I act as a guide helping them discover the unique facets of themselves and empowering them to trust in their own voice and gifts. I am a huge believer in supporting the growth of confidence and self-love in children from early on to make for more loving and self-assured people as they grow. With an awareness of the wisdom, you will already be instilling in your children as their parents, I will work with you as your and their support system to build off of the incredible foundation you’ve already established.

I have worked with children in various capacities since I was a teenager. For two summers, I volunteered at a daycare where I was responsible for watching over young children ranging from ages 2 to 12. I began volunteering at the age of 12 and was able to establish myself as a mentor and leader amongst the younger children, helping them feel comfortable and confident while also always ensuring their safety. I often helped run playtime with the toddlers, building exciting worlds with them, following their lead as they welcomed me into their creative fortresses, and making them feel heard and seen without judgment. This was one of the highlights of my youth and cemented my passion for working with children and being a teacher in many ways.

I am also a loving Aunt to a 17-month-old baby boy who I have consistently babysat overnight and for full stretches of the day since he was a newborn. I’ve done everything from feeding, burping, and changing clothes to playing and intentionally engaging with him in order to ensure his positive growth over time. As my nephew enters the toddler phase, I’ve built up strong stamina to match his peaking energy levels as he runs, spins in circles, and screams for more exciting playtime together. I really value as much time we can spend being active and creative instead of on the devices and find myself in constant awe of just how courageously he takes on the big world. Noticing the bravery in kids and their natural desire to learn, I try and encourage exploration safely and as much as possible.

For two years, I worked at my University’s Housing & Residence buildings as a receptionist for all of the student residences. During this time I often interacted with shy, incoming students of diverse backgrounds and experiences, coming from different social backgrounds and family structures. This job helped me to craft my ability to build community amongst young people and form trust-based, encouraging connections with the students living in our buildings in a way that allowed them to feel safe, able to come to me for guidance, and feel supported.

In my most recent job position, I worked with a Toronto-based non-profit, Metrac: Action Against Violence, where I worked as a Youth Peer Educator. During my time with Metrac I developed and co-ran afterschool programming with young girls and non-binary children ages 10-13 as well as diverse youth ages 14-18. In these sessions, we would discuss confidence building, healthy relationships/friendships, mental health and wellness, self-care and self-love, healthy communication, arts, and creative expression, and dreaming futures that aligned with our joys and passions. Working with children across the older age ranges allowed me to remember the value of making sure that they feel heard and uplifting their perspectives with a sense of confidence and validity that encourages them to see and hear themselves as the experts of their own stories. Seeing the growth that can happen from simply making space for a child and young person to share and be vulnerable is incredibly rewarding.

When it comes to safety, I am trained in wilderness first-aid as well as standard first aid and hiking level 1!

I am so excited to be considered an extension of your family as your Au Pair and cannot wait to meet you!

Experiencia con niños

Hello!

My name is Zanele Haletia and I am thrilled to meet you all and help create more time, support, and balance for your family while getting to know you. I am a lover of the arts, creating music myself through singing, songwriting, and music production. I also have a deep desire to contribute in meaningful and lasting ways to my community through caring for the planet and other people.

For the past two years, I have shifted my focus to grow a deeper connection with myself spiritually which has resulted in many adventures I could have never imagined. The dream and understanding that has remained with me through it all is a passion for understanding motherhood, and how to be supportive of mothers and women, children, and families as a base for a stronger and more united globe. As your Au Pair, I will be a support for your children and for you as the parent or parents as well if this is what you need. Witnessing the birth of my two nephews through my eldest sister I’ve grown to intimately understand the weight of parenthood and how important the village truly is in making sure that children and parents are able to thrive and remain whole individuals despite their sacrifices. With this awareness and the lessons I’m continuing to learn as I explore my own path, I would be grateful for the opportunity to support your familial community and put my passion for love and care for others into practice.

In my off time, I will dedicate myself to creating music, dancing around my room, exploring my new hometown, filming videos for my YouTube channel, and self-exploration!

I have worked with children of all ages, supporting kids as young as newborns to 16 years old. I’ve spent the most time caring intimately for my two young nephews since birth, they are now 13 months and close to 3 years old. In my career, I have worked as a recreational youth leader, holding online after-school programming for young children of diverse needs and backgrounds during the height of COVID-19 through React, a program that is part of the Toronto non-profit METRAC. I’ve also worked in-person as a Youth Social Leader with the YWCA Toronto, to lead summer camp programming for young girls and teens ranging in ages 8-16. I currently volunteer for the Elk River Alliance, a water charity based in B.C. Canada. In my role, I’ve guided children from elementary to high school ages through garbage clean-ups and tree-planting initiatives. I received First-Aid training this past August of 2023 and I am certified in Hiking Level 1. I am currently enrolled in the Canada Conservation Corps and would love to help your children explore ways of being a friend to the Earth in uplifting and empowering ways that get them excited for the future and the positive relationship they can have with our planet.
Overall, I am simply looking forward to a new experience, a chance to meet new people and connect more deeply to what creates meaning in my life which is spreading love and offering constructive support where it is most needed.
