Dear Future Au Pair,

We are a friendly and active family, Im from California and my wife is Basque living in the beautiful Basque Country in northern Spain. This summer (July and August 2025), we’re looking for an au pair to join us and help care for our two fun and curious boys, aged 2 and 4, while we work during their school holidays. Our boys speak and understand both english and Basque.

You'll be spending most of the day with the children at their grandmother’s farmhouse, which is surrounded by nature, animals (sheep and chickens), and a big garden. There's also a pool and plenty of space to ride bikes and explore! The setting is very peaceful and perfect for children to play outdoors.

You’ll live at at the farmhouse with their grandmother, who is relaxed and independent. She spends most of her time outside in the garden and would be happy to practice her English with you if you’d like — but she won’t interfere in your day-to-day routine with the kids. You’ll have your own room and private bathroom.

We expect you to spend around 7 hours a day, Monday to Friday 08:00 - 15:00, with the boys — playing with them, preparing snacks and lunch, and taking part in their daily routine. They love being outside and also enjoy going to the local sports center (Polideportivo), where there is a small climbing wall and children’s pool. You’ll have a gym membership so you can enjoy those facilities too!

Public transportation in the area is easily accessible via train and bus, so you can explore nearby towns or head into Donostia–San Sebastián, which is about 40 minutes away by public transport. There is also a language school in our town, just a 10-minute walk from the farmhouse you can also borrow a bike if you prefer, with additional options available in San Sebastián if you're interested in improving your Spanish.
