I was an au pair in London a couple years ago. During that time, I lived with a family that has four children. My responsability was mostly to take care of the youngest who was 6 at the time, even though I also helped with the others, as well as partaking in basic cooking and some help with the house.

At the moment, I work in schools teaching english and robotics as an extracurricular activity to kids aged 4 to 10. In the past, I've also babysitted and given review classes. Apart from working, I've also had experience as a volunteer in a hiking club for a few years and taken care of my younger cousins during the summers.

My main reason to be an au pair again is to live with a family and learn from their traditions while taking care of kids. I also thing it'd be a wonderful opportunity to partake in community life that otherwise I would not have the chance to do. This is why I'm considering being an au pair instead of living on my own during my year abroad.

Also, I think that being an au pair while studying would be a good combination as it would give me the opportunity to integrate more into the neighborhood and get to know the local people. I'm very excited to move back to New York and experience life in the city.

I look forward to live with a welcoming family and to feel like I'm at home. I hope to have a good relationship with the kids and learn from everything they have to offer. I also wish to travel, meet new people and get to know the culture and local traditions.

As I would be studying at the same time, I’d like to find a family close to the college (so ideally in Brooklyn, but Manhattan with a good commute would also work) with a schedule that would match mine so that I could combine university with being an au pair. I'll have a very flexible schedule, so I think that as long as I have free time at some point of the day, we'll be able to make it work very well.
