For Au Pairs

Age: 18 - 30 years old.

Language skills: Good knowledge of English, plus basic knowledge of Luxembourgish, German, or French (one of the three official languages).

Education: Must have at least a high school diploma.

Health and Family Status: Must be in good health, unmarried, and without children.

Host Family Ties: Cannot have any family ties up to the 4th degree inclusive with any members of the Host Family.

Financials: Must be able to cover travel and visa expenses (especially for Non-EU citizens).

Free Registration as Candidate
For Host Families

Have at least one child under the age of 13 living permanently in your household at the start of the Au Pair's stay.

Genuinely integrate the Au Pair into the family dynamic as a full member of the household.

Be willing to communicate in one of the official languages (Luxembourgish, German, or French) or English to support the Au Pair’s language development.

Provide private accommodation, daily meals, and the legally required pocket money (€450 to €512 per month).

Take care of the Au Pair’s registration with the CCSS (Communal Centre of Social Security) for insurance coverage.

Sign a formal Au Pair agreement before employment begins.

Working Conditions
Fair and balanced arrangements for everyone
- An Au Pair can perform child-rearing and light household tasks for a maximum of 25 hours per week.
- The time dedicated to her tasks cannot exceed 5 hours per day.
- Au Pairs are entitled to at least one full day off per week.
- The Host Family must ensure the Au Pair has time off to attend mandatory language courses.
- Au Pairs are entitled to two consecutive free days for every month of service completed.
- Attending a language course in one of Luxembourg’s official languages (Luxembourgish, German, or French) is mandatory.
- Assisting with morning and evening routines for the children (e.g., waking up, getting dressed).
- Preparing simple meals for the children.
- Organizing activities and games.
- Performing light housework related to the children.
- The Host Family is responsible for registering the Au Pair with the CCSS (Communal Centre of Social Security) to secure health and accident insurance for the entire duration of the stay.
- If the Au Pair holds a valid driving licence from a European Union or European Economic Area country, it is fully recognized in Luxembourg.
