Hello there! My name is Rylan, I am in my third year of university. I attend the University of Rhode Island, but I am actually currently studying abroad in Valencia, Spain. I was born in Juneau, Alaska, and I moved to Rhode Island when I was 5 years old. I am Alaskan Native, Filipino, and Irish. I am looking to become an au pair for the summer for many reasons, the primary one being that I would like to experience life in the UK and gain profesional experience taking care of kids. This past semester that I’ve spent in Spain, while not over, has already opened my eyes so much to what is out there, and the experiences I want to cultivate. This semester motivated me to try and apply for postgraduate education in the United Kingdom. My aunt went to Oxford and speaks very highly of her time here, so from a young age it has always intrigued me very much. As a kid I also enjoyed British children’s books that she would bring home to me for Christmas and birthdays. My undergraduate degree is for Textiles, and I’m very fond of the program. I’ve been on the Dean’s List for 4 semesters. I’m extremely dependable, punctual, I have a great sense of humor, I love kids and animals (huge plus- they usually love me), and i love cooking as well. I’ve been a vegan since. 2019 but I haven’t forgotten many of my best non vegan recipes either.
