Hello, my name is Mara, I’m from Spain and I’m 18 years old.

I’ve just finished high school and will soon begin a Higher Vocational Degree in Administration and Finance. For over five years, I’ve been very interested in becoming an au pair because I’m passionate about traveling, learning about new cultures, improving my language skills and of course I genuinely love working with children, I enjoy taking care of them and building relationships based on trust, comfort, and good communication. This summer, I took part in a volunteering project in Belgium as a youth leader at a camp for Belgian children, funded by the European Union. My coordinators recognized my maturity and responsibility, and they entrusted me with the care of a couple of children with disabilities (autism and developmental delay). It was a very meaningful experience for me, and it gave me some initial experience working with children with special needs.

I consider myself a responsible, enthusiastic, and dedicated person. I always give my best, especially when it comes to stepping out of my comfort zone and discovering different cultures. In addition to my experience in Belgium, I also participated in an Erasmus+ program in Norway focused on water pollution in Norway and Spain. During that project, I lived with a Norwegian host family, which was a truly enriching personal and cultural experience.

I’m outgoing and communicative, never afraid to ask questions, start a conversation, or express my feelings. I also like to help in everything I can. I believe I’m well-prepared to become an au pair thanks to the experience I’ve gained, my sense of responsibility, and above all, my strong motivation and enthusiasm for learning and growing.
