Brief an die Gastfamilie
Who am I? My name is Michelle; I was born and raised in Mexico by a loving family. My mom is a lawyer and my dad a musician, probably not the match you've imagined, but truly a good one. I grew up mostly around adults and that's why I've never had any trouble socializing in any kind of setting or situation. A very good example of this is that on my very first day in kindergarten when I was only three years old, my parents were relieved I didn't have any trouble being left alone with a bunch of kids and a teacher I've never met before.
As the curious and social girl I am, I have always been interested by knowledge and learning, which has helped me a lot with my development in school since my early years, so much so, that when i was in fourth grade my parents and teachers were worried once because i got a B on an exam, which might not sound like something to worry about, but when you have straight A´s, it is something, eventually i had to confess to my parents I was just being lazy, but since then, and as things get more and more interesting, i have dedicated most of my time to school and learning new things.
I was introduced to the arts very early on in my life and have always been involved in various activities outside of school. I've tried a variety of sports from tennis to cross country. On the other hand, I tried following my dad´s path in music and my parents signed me up for violin classes when I was still in kindergarten and according to my teachers, I was very good at it, after that I did choir during most of middle school.
The thing I’m the proudest of is the fact that I decided to enter a humanities high school in which I really got to experience art at its finest and I was always surrounded by such talented and professional artists. One of my professors worked with Andy Warhol at the Factory and taught us so much. I got my minor in Art and Design, and it was totally worth it. The syllabus introduced so many good subjects, and art history was one of those, and it was actually during that time that i decided that was going to be my career, and that's what i did, and i am now in my 5th semester of college for my bachelor's in art history.
I want to become an Aupair because being a teacher and a nanny for little ones has always been a dream of mine. I see how important their role is as someone who grew up with a nanny myself. And now that I am grown, I would like to return the favor by engaging in the same line of work that once helped my parents care for my sister and I because I am grateful for their time, effort and all the work they put into their work with us. And though it is not on my plans for the near future, I also wish to have kids of my own someday to take care of them, that's why I wanna keep learning and experience as much as I can to hopefully give my kids the best version of myself.
Why should you host me and why do I qualify for the job? I have gained plenty of experience with children throughout the years of sharing my time with kids. I am always drawn to take care of them when nobody is paying attention, or their parents are just trying to have a moment to themselves, or they are just busy with work. I am always the nanny of choice around my circle because playfulness and comfort are my signature moves, but the most valuable thing I can do is have patience and it is something that always gets me lots of compliments. Besides that, I am also a very independent woman, who knows how to work in a team. I am not perfect, but I am good at most if not all house chores, and I always do my best.
I try to travel to the US as often as I can to visit my friends and family, and I've been there enough times to say I feel comfortable in the environment a small neighborly county offers, but I can also appreciate the busyness and lofty vibe of a bigger town. I can walk around and talk to neighbors, go to the supermarket for groceries, go to the mall and order some food or talk to the girl at the registry, basically anything.
All I can say is I am very excited for this opportunity and can’t wait to be part of this amazing journey.
