Hello! My name is Iona and I am 17 years old, completing the last year of secondary school. I am keen to gain some experience abroad, and I would love to take care of children, so being an au pair seems like a great option. The idea of learning about the history and culture of another country, and exploring its cities and countryside, is very exciting to me.

I live just outside of London with both of my parents and my brother (19). We also have a black cat named Inky. Growing up, I had a different au pair each year until I turned eleven. They were the same age as me now, and joined us for their gap year. I am keen to develop a close relationship with the children of my host family because I know how much it meant, and still means, to me to have had those relationships. To this day, I remain in contact with a few of my past au pairs by text. When I was younger and did not have a phone, I exchanged letters with three of my au pairs for up to six years.

I think others would say that my best traits are sensitivity and kindness. I enjoy spending time with children, and although my brother would never admit this, I am also able to be very patient! This is an attribute I am told is important when spending a lot of time with young children. Furthermore, I believe that I am able to combine having fun with a sense of responsibility.
