I have multiple years of experience as a baby sitter, both on a part-time and full-time basis. I have looked after families of up to three children on a part time basis, which has been a foundational experience in my understanding of different family dynamics and methods of dealing with children and conflict. I was a part-time nanny for a six-year-old girl named Charlotte for a year and a half, in which capacity I had a major role in maintaining her routine, entertaining her, and helping her with schoolwork. Additionally, I was a full-time nanny for a seven year old boy, Holden, in the summer of 2021. This experience led me to understand his daily routine, habits, and preferences, which allowed me to foster unique and personal approach to planning our days and activities. Furthermore, Holden had Autism Spectrum Disorder, which made his daily life much different than other children, necessitating that I adjust my approach to childcare and cater to his specific needs. This also facilitated difficult situations like overstimulation, tantrums, and behavioral difficulties, which pushed me to develop techniques which promote the child's comfort, safety, and learning in times of distress. I would like to become an Au Pair abroad to gain insight into a different culture, and adapt to new family dynamics and lifestyles as a childcare provider. As displayed by my previous experience, I am passionate about teaching, and would be happy to help children in their education process in any capacity, whether that be helping with school work, teaching literacy and numeracy skills, or expanding their knowledge of topics like government, geography, and history. Additionally, my experience in coaching public speaking and debate means that I have helped children and young adults overcome self-confidence issues, shyness, and insecurity, and I would be happy to help your children in these areas if that is necessary.
