Brief an die Gastfamilie
Dear future host family,
My name is Philine, I am 17 years old and I live with my family in Oberaspach, a small
village in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. I am currently completing my high school diploma and by
July, I will have my Abitur- a milestone I am eagerly looking forward to. In summer, I will be doing an internship as a nurse on the children‘s ward. After finishing school, my
greatest wish is to spend about ten months as an Au Pair in another country
before embarking on my university studies in medicine next year. I would love to start working as an Au Pair in
October or November after turning 18 on October 16.
I come from a loving and supportive family and I have an older sister who is currently pursuing her PhD in Mathematics in London, England. My father has an auditor and tax consultant firm in Crailsheim and my mother works as a graphic designer. Growing up in a close-knit environment has taught me the importance of
responsibility and empathy – qualities that I believe are essential for working with children.
In my free time, I am a very active person. I have been passionate about ballet for many years, I enjoy
playing the piano and I go three times a week to the gym. Additionally, I love spending time
outdoors, whether it is going on excursions, hiking, exploring nature or simply being active with
friends. Once a year I go skiing with my family in Austria, which is always a great adventure.
Traveling is another great passion of mine. As a consequence, I find immense joy in discovering new
places, immersing myself in different cultures and meeting new people. I have been fortunate to visit
countries such as South Africa, Australia, USA, England, China, Malaysia and Thailand with my family.
In countries like Italy and Croatia I spent my holidays with friends. Moreover, I had the opportunity to
participate in an exchange program in Epinal, France. These experiences have shaped me into an
open-minded, independent and culturally curious person who thrives in new environments.
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to connect with people, especially children. I am a very
warm-hearted and creative person who has always plenty of ideas to keep children engaged-
whether through games, crafts, outdoor activities or simply fostering a joyful and caring atmosphere.
I find it incredibly fulfilling to support children in their development, encourage their curiosity and
make sure they feel safe and happy. At the same time, I am highly responsible and take my duties
seriously. I complete my tasks with diligence and enthusiasm, always ensuring that I am a reliable
and supportive presence for those around me.
I believe that working as an Au Pair is a perfect opportunity for me- not only to support a family and
their children but also broaden my horizons, improve my language skills and experience life in
another culture. As a native German speaker, I am also fluent in English (C1 level) and French (C1
level) and I would love to further enhance my language abilities while sharing my own cultural
background with your family. Moreover, I already have my driver‘s license, which I believe will be
highly beneficial in assisting with daily tasks and responsibilities.
I am an optimistic, energetic and tolerant person who adapts quickly to new situations and genuinely
enjoys meeting and connecting with people. For this reason, it would be a great pleasure for me to
become part of your family, support your children and contribute to your daily life with positivity and
dedication.
I truly hope to have the opportunity to get to know you and become a valuable addition to your
home. I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully meeting you soon!
Best regards, Philine
