Letter to the family
Dear Host Family,
My name is Theola, and I am beyond excited at the thought of becoming a part of your family as an au pair. I am passionate about caring for children, and I believe I can bring warmth, fun and learning into your home.
As a Christian, my faith plays a significant role in how I live my life and approach my work. I believe in treating everyone with kindness, patience, and respect, and this reflects in the way I care for and guide children. I am excited about the opportunity to support your family and be a positive influence on the kids.
I am currently an au pair in the Netherlands, and it has been such a rewarding experience. I've enjoyed building a close bond with my host family and especially love spending time with the children—playing, helping with school routines, and watching them grow each day. This experience has taught me a lot about responsibility, flexibility, and understanding different cultures.
I have always had a deep love and passion for working with children. Back in South Africa I volunteered at a local foster home called Grace Baby Haven, where I helped care for babies, offering love and affection to those who need it most. During my time there, I also fed the babies, bathed them, had play time and sorted their baby clothes/products. I have also been babysitting a 14-year-old girl and we have developed a close relationship over the 3 years.
I have had the privilege of working at kids` activations during my school holidays, organizing fun activities in different shopping malls for over four years. One of my favourite skills is making balloon twisting creations- my party trick is creating perfect balloon flower bracelets, dogs and swords! I also have great event planning skills, whether it is building a balloon arch or leading a team to run a successful kids` activation. Growing up with five sisters, two of whom are still toddlers has helped me develop patience, responsibility and to adapt to different needs and situations. This hands-on experience has helped me understand how to engage with children of different ages, adapt to their unique personalities, and ensure a safe, happy environment for them to have fun.
I have a great passion for sports, particularly swimming, having represented my province in numerous swimming galas during my time at the South Arican School Sports week. A fun fact is that I have won over 200 gold medals during my years of competing (I started swimming when I was four years old).
Cooking and baking are also two of my favourite hobbies. I cannot wait to bring this passion into your home, where I hope to make mealtimes special for your family- whether it is baking cookies with the kids of preparing dinner for everyone to enjoy.
I would make a great au pair because of my genuine love for children, adaptability, extensive experience and enthusiasm for creating a fun environment! I am a reliable and caring person, well-equipped to provide the children with a positive and enriching experience!
I am truly excited about the possibility of being part of your family, sharing in your everyday life, creating wonderful memories together and learning your culture!
Theola
