Letter to the family
I am urgently looking for a Host Family in Spain for the month August 2024! I am currently in Spain until October 2nd, and my current host family will be gone for the entire month of August. I would love to help out another family during that time!
Hi there! My name is Dani :) I am a 20 year old student from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. I have been working in childcare for over 6 years and within the last year, I have accumulated more than 1000 hours of child minding! I have looked after children in many different rolls and Au Paired for a family in Barcelona, Spain from August 2022 - November 2022.
Since the age of 14, I have been coaching high diving for my local team. I take a lot of pride in this as I absolutely adore getting to watch my athletes advance over the season, and getting to see how proud they are of themselves for learning a new skill is an amazing thing to experience. I have coached children ranging from the age of 4 all the way to the age of 15.
I currently nanny for two families; a 5 year old girl and three boys ranging in ages of 3 1/2 - 8 years old. I have been looking after the girl every morning since the beginning of the school year, and have been responsible for getting her out of bed and ready for school. This included making her breakfast, helping her get dressed, helping her to brush her hair and teeth and driving her to school. I've been looking after the three boys every evening for about 6 months. I am responsible for picking them up from daycare, feeding them an afternoon snack and occasionally dinner, tidying the house, and changing the diaper of the youngest boy.
For the last four years, I have been running summer camps with ages ranging from 3 1/2 to 12 years old. I worked primarily with the younger ages (3 1/2 - 7) for the first three years, but this year I've been working with the older ages. I have been responsible for coming up with all of our science experiments and crafts for the summer (one craft and one science experiment per week). Collectively, me and my other coworkers have had to plan out the entire summer with 16 physically active games a day, 1 field trip a week, and rainy day activities just in case the weather doesn't cooperate with our plans. Our ratios are 7:1 so I am comfortable looking after multiple children at a time. Some of my daily responsibilities include regular headcounts, keeping the campers on schedule, improvising games when an activity doesn't work well with a particular group, ensuring my campers eat during our scheduled morning and afternoon snacks and during lunch time, and making sure my campers are happy and are having a good time while in my care.
I've also babysat for numerous families over the years as well.
From August 2022 until November 2022, I was an Au Pair for a wonderful family in Barcelona, Spain, and had an absolutely lovely time! I looked after a 4-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy. Some of my responsibilities included waking them up and getting them ready for school, making breakfasts and lunches, prepping their lunch boxes, helping with daily hygiene practices, and mainly teaching them the basics of English grammar and common English words that we used every day around the house. It was a really great experience for me and I have missed getting to live in a foreign country. I was very lucky to have been placed with such an amazing family and I'm looking for the next great family to work for!
I want to become an Au Pair and Nanny for a few reasons. I decided to defer for a year from my university as I wanted to travel, and I was told about Au Pair by a few different people as they all thought I would be a perfect fit for it! It gives me the opportunity to see some more of the world and experience new people and cultures while also getting to do something that I love:). I think I should be hosted because I am passionate about childcare and have a lot of experience with many different children and families, I am a neat person and have experience with cleaning houses so I know how to keep a neat and tidy home, and I also have a very bubbly and happy personality and I love getting to talk to and meet new people.
