Letter to the family
Dear Host Family,
Hi! My name is Amy, and I’m a 22-year-old university student from the UK. I’m currently studying Criminology, but one of my biggest passions has always been working with children. I’ve been teaching swimming since I was 15, and I absolutely love how rewarding it is to help kids grow, build confidence, and discover their potential. That’s what makes me so excited about the idea of becoming an Au Pair!
Why I Want to Be an Au Pair
For as long as I can remember, I’ve enjoyed being around kids. Whether it’s teaching them new skills, encouraging them when they feel unsure, or just having fun together, I always feel like I learn as much from them as they do from me! Being an Au Pair feels like the perfect next step for me—I’d get to spend time with children, help them thrive, and be part of their everyday lives.
Plus, I’m someone who thrives in a warm, family environment, and I’d love the chance to share my skills and experiences while learning from your family, too. I’m confident that I can bring positive energy, reliability, and kindness into your home.
Why You Should Host Me
I believe I’d make a great Au Pair because I’m caring, confident, and experienced. I’ve taught swimming for over four years, working with kids as young as three to teenagers, tailoring lessons to their abilities and making sure they always feel supported. This has given me loads of patience, creativity, and a natural knack for building trust with children (and parents!).
I’m also super organized and reliable, thanks to balancing work, university, and even a year-long internship in the Civil Service. Whether it’s helping with homework, keeping up with routines, or organizing fun activities, you can count on me to handle it all.
Why I Love Working with Kids
There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a child’s confidence grow because you’ve helped them achieve something they thought was impossible. From the shy little ones I’ve coached to the adventurous kids who’ve taught me a thing or two, I love how every day with children is different. I’m naturally warm and approachable, and kids seem to feel comfortable around me quickly. I think it’s because I genuinely love what I do—I’m energetic, playful, and love making them laugh, but I also know how to set boundaries and keep them safe.
A Little About Me
When I’m not working or studying, I love to dance (I’ve even competed nationally with my university dance team!) and explore new places. I’m also a big believer in staying active and creative, so I’d always be up for baking, arts and crafts, or heading out for a nature walk.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my profile. I’d love the opportunity to get to know you and your family better and hopefully become a part of your lives. I can’t wait to meet you!
