Letter to the family

I am a preschool teacher currently living in Texas (where I have resided for the last couple years). I was born and raised in San Diego, California where I worked as a Direct Support Professional for adults with developmental disabilities, then as an ABA therapist for children on the Autism Spectrum while obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. I am a natural caregiver and enjoy making a positive difference in others lives. I feel my happiest when serving others, or while being creative (I love when I can combine the two!). I also would love to travel and see more of the world - I have visited various European countries, Mexico, and some of the United States for leisure/vacations, but would love an opportunity to broaden my world-view and reside in a new place for awhile. I have years of caregiving experience, as well as vast experience teaching children preschool age and younger/older, on the spectrum & not. I have the ability to teach independence whilst also giving specialized care - former ABA therapist, the ability to handle chaos - a room full of preschoolers, the ability to genuinely care for someone that needs a companion & caregiver with my experience as a DSP, & have never ending patience along with a desire to teach children! I also adore spending time with kids, and find it easy to have fun with them! They see the world through in such a beautiful, curious way, and live in the moment. They inspire me to try to do so as well.

Experience

As a Direct Support Professional for adults with disabilities, I independently maintained a home of individuals and helped them with everyday tasks, administered medication, helped them with bathing when needed, cooked and cleaned, and took them on outings and to/from work (for those that had jobs). Many of the individuals were elderly; I found it to be a very rewarding job and a wonderful experience. I’d be delighted to have a one-on-one caregiver job as I’ve had experience with a similar role and enjoyed it.

As an ABA therapist I got to work individually with several children that were on the Autism spectrum. I learned so much and got to help each and every child in various ways and ultimately help them to be more independent and comfortable in their everyday surroundings. Finally, before I was a preschool teacher, I was hired as the toddler/potty training teacher (I stayed in that role for 6 months before transitioning into the preschool classroom). I learned the ins and outs (and ups and downs) of potty training! I also changed an uncountable amount of diapers, and played a big role in the successful potty training of several children! As a preschool teacher, I have learned how to juggle different tasks, how to keep the attention of several children at once, and how to teach a room full of littles :) I also have some students that are on the spectrum, so my knowledge as an ABA therapist has helped me tremendously. In short, I have extensive caregiver/teacher experience and would love to resort back to caring for a smaller amount of children in order to give them my sole focus, love, and attention whilst also getting to experience a new place in the world!
