Letter to the family

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
My name is Reo, and I am from Japan. I am going to Australia on a Working Holiday visa and am looking forward to joining a friendly family as an Au Pair.

I want to become an Au Pair because it allows me to combine two things I truly love: working with children and experiencing different cultures. I really enjoy being a mentor and having the opportunity to support children’s learning—often through play. I also love connecting with people from around the world and learning about their cultures. This passion was inspired in part by my one-year study abroad experience in Canada when I was a university student.

I grew up looking after my younger brother, and this sparked my interest in caring for younger children. I spent two years tutoring Japanese students one-on-one in English. While in Canada, I also volunteered in a Japanese language class, assisting teachers in their lessons.

In addition to childcare, I enjoy cooking and helping around the house. I worked at a takeaway restaurant in Japan, where I was responsible for everything from preparing and selling lunch boxes to keeping the shop clean and organized. I also enjoy swimming, basketball, playing the piano, and practicing Japanese calligraphy. I would love to share some of my culture with your family too!

I’m cheerful, responsible, and genuinely love spending time with children. I hope to be like a big sister to your kids.

Thank you again for reading my profile—I hope to hear from you soon!

Experience

Although I have not worked as an official Au Pair yet, I have plenty of experience caring for and supporting children. I grew up looking after my younger brother, which gave me an early sense of responsibility and joy in helping others. Later, I spent two years tutoring Japanese students one-on-one in English, which taught me how to be patient, creative and encouraging—qualities that are also important for an Au Pair.

While studying abroad in Canada, I volunteered in a Japanese class to help teachers teach their students. It was another great experience that deepened my love for working with children in multicultural settings.

I want to become an Au Pair abroad because it is a meaningful way to connect with a new culture while doing something I care deeply about—supporting children’s growth and happiness. I see it as more than just a job; it is an opportunity to become part of a family, learn through daily life and share my own culture as well.
