Letter to the family

About Me
Hi! My name is Jade. I’m a graduate student studying counseling psychology at Naropa University (part-time online) with a focus on mindfulness-based therapy, and I’ve spent the last six years building a life centered around care, presence, and service—whether that’s through international pet-sitting, nannying, or working in community health and outreach.

I’ve traveled through over a dozen countries, often solo and always with deep respect for the cultures and families I meet along the way. My time in AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps helped shape my values: cultural humility, kindness, flexibility, and the importance of creating safe, grounded environments for children to thrive. I also have professional experience working with a vetted nanny agency ("Happy Kids" in Hawai’i), and I bring a nurturing, reliable, and mindful approach to every caregiving role I take on.

Why I Want to Be a Nanny
For me, nannying is more than a job—it’s a meaningful opportunity to support young humans in their development and expression while continuing to learn from them too. I love creating calm, connected, and creative spaces. My studies in psychology and my background in mindfulness weave beautifully into the rhythms of family life. Nannying gives me the chance to support not only a child, but the whole family ecosystem.

Why You Should Host Me
I'm grounded, adaptable, and deeply respectful of the uniqueness of each home and parenting style. I’ve also been CPR/first aid certified (thought I am not currently up to date on this) I speak (very) basic Spanish, and am always happy to share in household rhythms—from cooking and cleaning to after-school routines. I bring maturity, international awareness, and a heart-forward work ethic, and I’m always clear, communicative, and warm in how I engage with children and caregivers alike.

Why I’m Qualified
I’ve worked with children from infancy through the teen years, and I’ve worn many hats: nanny, live-in caregiver, tutor, community educator, creative play facilitator, and big-hearted listener. Whether we’re exploring outside, working through a conflict, or just sitting down for snack time, I show up fully. I’d be honored to bring my blend of professional experience, personal warmth, and global perspective into your home.

Experience

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of supporting children in many different contexts—from overnight nannying and short-term sitting to structured programs and school-based work. I began as a nanny in high school and later in my undergrad years volunteered weekly with Horizons for Homeless Children in Boston, where I helped create open, playful spaces for children with early childhood trauma. That experience shaped my deep respect for children’s emotional worlds and the power of simple presence and play.

I worked with Happy Kids, a trusted nanny agency in Hawai’i, where I cared for children of all ages and was fully background-checked and vetted. Through my non-profit work in community health, I also spent time in public schools across the Hawaiian islands providing free vision screenings—a role that gave me insight into how important accessibility and equity are in children’s lives.

In between, I’ve continued to work as a house and pet sitter through TrustedHousesitters.com, traveling internationally and supporting families with care and integrity. And truly, the children I meet are often the most fascinating part. I find so much joy (and humility!) in witnessing how kids process the world, express themselves, and challenge us to grow.

I’d love to nanny abroad because I believe cross-cultural connection can be such a powerful part of a child’s life. I also know that my presence—steady, warm, curious—helps create a nurturing and grounded environment, no matter where we are in the world.
