Letter to the family

I'm Viktoria, an open minded, empathetic and trustworthy 28 year old childminder with 5 years of aupair/nanny experience. I have minded kids from infants to 11 year olds and can provide references from families I've worked for.

I think I'm good with kids because I find it easy to put myself in their shoes and view the world through their eyes. The most important thing in my opinion is to treat children with respect and love, just like everyone else around you. I take safety seriously, as well as having fun and finding humor in stressful situations. I like doing arts and crafts with kids, dancing, writing/telling stories etc., but I'm also happy to let the kids lead the way in play and I would just come up with some ideas here and there.

My personal philosophy when it comes to childcare comes from a mixture of Montessori practices, with different strategies I picked up from my work experience. I truly believe that children deserve a caregiver who provides love, care and safety, where their autonomy is respected and cherished.

Usually, when I start with a new family I like to see their routine and kind of integrate into it. I can take initiative when it's needed and see what needs to be done, but I'm also good at following directions.

I'm comfortable with pets, light cleaning and I'm a good cook, I cooked family meals for most of my families.

I'm pretty clean and try to keep the house like that while I'm working.

I also like/did organising, especially kids' toys, clothes etc.

I have a BA in Communication and Media and Film Studies, but since I finished school I mostly worked as an aupair/nanny. I love learning, I might go back to school at some point, but as for now, I'm happy to learn on my own and read broadly. I also have a great passion for childcare, so I try to educate myself on it and keep up to date.

I like travelling and experiencing new cultures. I also love music, especially live music, and going to concerts and festivals is one of my favourite activities. I started to learn the guitar and piano, so I could not only listen to my favourite songs, but play them as well. Cinema is also a favourite of mine, especially since I studied it at university. I also love reading, although right now I mainly listen to audiobooks and podcasts.

I like to do yoga, eat healthy(ish enough), go for a run, swim or cycle. I love my bike! Also started bouldering, which is really fun.

But I also need my quiet time to recharge and be able to do all of these activities.

I have done paediatric first aid courses in the past, last one was 2 years ago, which I will need to redo.

I don't have any special dietary requirements.

I'm fully vaccinated against Covid.

Experience

2018/01 – 2018/07 Au pair in London
I was minding 2 boys, 7 and 5, 25 hours a week. My responsibilities were getting them and their lunch
ready in the morning, take them to school, collect them from school, take them to parks or the library,
playing with them, do arts and crafts with them, make dinner for the whole family 3 times per week and
basic house cleaning duties.

2019/06 – 2019/09 Au pair in Dublin, Lucan
I was minding a 6 months old and a 2 and a half year old baby girl. I was with them 10-11 hours a day, 3
days per week. I fed them, changed their nappies and clothes, did their laundry, played with them, put
them down for naps, took them to the park, sing to them and did basic cleaning in the house.

2019/09 – 2021/07, Au pair in Dublin, Terenure
I was minding two girls, 7 and 10, around 25 hours per week. I made their lunches, gave them breakfast,
then the mom droped them off and I collected them in the afternoon and we either took the bus or a taxi. I
gave them a snack in the afternoon, helped them with their homework, played with them, read with them,
then I made the dinner and the mom put them to bed. If I was babysitting, I would give them dinner, help
them get ready for bed and I would put them to bed. During Covid I helped them homeschool.

2021/10 – 2022/12, Nanny in Berlin
I was minding a 1,5 year old and later on helped out with her infant brother. I worked between full time
and part time, depending on her Kita placement. I would be in charge of feeding her, getting her dressed,
changing nappies, cooking her meals and later the family meals, collecting her from Kita and organizing her
room, toys, clothes etc.
