Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hi there, welcome to Family .

I am a single mother living in a beautiful area in the West of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I am looking for a helpful aupair to start in the next few months for at least six months (and up to a year) for the 30 hours a week allowed. I have two (energetic) boys aged 6 and 9, both are at school during a lot of the week. As a single-parent family I'm looking for help with the busy family life, to live as stress free and happily as possible. It's all about having a happy life yo.

Just to say that they are lovely kids but they are not quiet, so first off you must be comfortable handling kids with personality, and being able to ride a bike around Amsterdam is essential - also for school pick ups and drop offs.

We are a native English family and we speak English in the house—so if you're looking to improve a language, we can help there!
Both my kids were born here, and if you didn't know Netherlands raises some of the happiest kids in the world as they are fairly independent from a young age, and encouraged to be themselves.

We live in a 3/4th floor of a great light apartment overlooking the park. There is lots to do and see here around yur aupair duties.

Best thing is to arrange a video or WhatsApp chat and you can ask any questions you might have.

NB: I have had both male and female aupairs, but for this next job I prefer a female aupair. I also prefer someone who has had at least some experience in a family already.

Job Description

Breakfast and dinner help most days.
Light cleaning and house work 1-2 hours a day.
Supermarket shopping few times a week.
Being in during the week at least 3 evenings for the mum to pursue work/social activities.
Entertaining the kids on the hours we agree during the week and on a weds and Saturday afternoon.
Cycling a bike (Urban Arrow) with the kids for pick up or school drop off a few times a week (so must be able to cycle confidently, the Urban Arrow is electronic and extremely easy to cycle if you can cycle a normal bike - don't worry about this).
Activity pick up and drop off for the kids during the week/saturdays.
Sunday and Monday you would have off to do your own cultural or social activities.

Main responsibilities would be to help at the busy breakfast time, dinner time, bed time, on Tuesday afternoons after school, and on the weekend at least on Saturday during the day. We have a half day of school on Weds so that day can get busy too. Because during the week the kids are at school (with childcare after on two evenings), there is some flexibility and a lot of free time around Aupair duties.

During the days of the week you would have a lot of time to study or explore the city, I need help with light cleaning, supermarket shopping and meal prep for 1-2 hours on the days we agree you work, plus ask you are proactive around this and can create a list, plan meals, shop for them and make them without too much input from me after the first few months.

I really prefer someone who is already in the EU or without a visa requirement. Thank you.

My house is in a beautiful area of Amsterdam near the city centre, with a tram stop nearby and Centraal Station is about a 25 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride.
