Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hi! We are Emilė and Christopher. We live in the west of Berlin, in Wilmersdorf-Charlottenburg—just five minutes from Kurfürstendamm. The area is central, family-friendly, and very safe. It’s well-connected by public transport and has everything you might need: supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, shopping, and parks. We have one child, Theodore (Theo) May, born on January 11, 2024.

We both work full-time, but we love spending time together doing simple things like going to the park, eating together, or watching a movie. We also enjoy travelling when we can, discovering new places and cultures. In our free time, we enjoy participating in sports, cooking, watching movies, and working on business ideas. We follow an omnivorous diet with a strong focus on healthy eating— we try to eat bio, homemade, and high-quality food. However, we live in Germany; therefore, having delicious bread at home is a must!
We read bedtime stories every night, try to go outside as much as possible, and travel several times a year. We visit grandparents during Christmas and throughout the year. We’re excited to welcome an au pair into our home to be part of this little adventure and our daily life.

Accommodation

Living Arrangement & Benefits

We will rent a room for the au pair in a nearby shared flat. The bathroom is usually shared, but exact arrangements may vary depending on what's available.

All terms will follow official German au pair regulations, including:
- 280 EUR monthly pocket money
- 30 working hours per week
- Paid vacation (2 days/month)
- Support for language courses and public transport
- Health insurance and optional mobile phone support

Given that we used to live abroad we know how difficult it might be to deal with foreign administration, e.g. opening a bank account. We will of course help with that as well.
