Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Future Au Pair,

We are so excited to welcome you into our family! Let us introduce ourselves. We are Jess and Svetko, parents to our little one, Max 4 months. We also share our home with 2 huskies Zima and Zivko., “our two playful dogs are outside dogs but who are very much part of the family.

About Our Lifestyle

We live a busy but balanced life, focused on family, health, and enjoying the outdoors. We love Travelling (very excited for snow trip to New Zealand next year) we would love to bring you along on our travels if you are the right fit for our family, we also love spending time attending local community events, and visiting local parks. Our home is warm, family-friendly, and always filled with laughter (and a little bit of chaos with a young child around!).

A Typical Week

During the week, Svetko and I both work managing our businesses I work 2 days a week whilst Svetko works 4days, Max has his daily routine of play, naps, and activities. Our mornings are usually lively as we prepare for the day, and evenings are a mix of family dinners, story time, and winding down together.

Weekends

On weekends we slow down and spend quality time as a family. We enjoy catching up with friends, going for walks, exploring local markets, or heading to the beach with the dogs. Weekends are also your time to relax and enjoy Australia — whether that’s meeting friends, sightseeing, or just resting.

Where We Live

Our home is in upper coomera, a friendly and safe neighborhood close to the beach, shops, and cafes. We live in a comfortable house with space for everyone to feel at home, and you will have your own private bedroom and bathroom. The community is welcoming and there’s always something going on nearby, I attend weekly pram pushes and picnics with other mums within the community.

Our “Typical Australian” Life

Living here, you’ll quickly see how much Australians love the outdoors, we are spoilt for choice living on the Gold Coast, The Gold Coast is famous for its stunning beaches like Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Heads and Currumbin, as well as its world-class theme parks including Dreamworld, Movie World and Sea World. Beyond the coast, you can explore the lush hinterland with national parks, waterfalls and glow worm caves at Springbrook and Lamington, or enjoy the views and village charm of Mount Tamborine. For culture and family fun, there’s HOTA (Home of the Arts), bustling local markets, and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary where you can meet kangaroos and koalas. Whether you love surfing, hiking, thrill rides or simply relaxing in the sun, the Gold Coast has something for everyone.

Why We Decided to Host an Au Pair

We chose to host an au pair because we want to share our family and culture with someone new, while also getting some support with childcare and day-to-day routines. It’s important to us that you feel part of our family, not just someone who helps out. We are currently loosely following the Montessori traditional ways.

What We Expect from You

Your main role will be to care for Max, ensuring he is safe, happy, and engaged. This will include playing with him, preparing simple meals or snacks, and helping with his routines. Light household tasks related to childcare (such as tidying play areas or folding children’s laundry) are also part of the role. We don’t expect you to take on heavy housework — we want your focus to be on our child.

The Personality We’re Hoping For

We are hoping for an au pair who is warm, responsible, and flexible, with a positive attitude. Someone who loves children, enjoys the outdoors, and is open to new experiences will fit right in with us.

We’re truly looking forward to this adventure together and can’t wait to meet you.

Warm regards,
the family

Job Description

In our family, the au pair’s primary responsibility will be caring for Baby Max, who is currently 4 months old. This includes getting up with him during the night (up to 4 nights a week) to feed, settle, and put him back to sleep. During the day (2days a week whilst I’m at work), duties involve providing age-appropriate care such as tummy time, reading to him, engaging him in play, and ensuring he is comfortable and safe. The au pair will also take Max to baby classes, including sensory class, if I am unable to attend. His laundry will be part of your routine, and we would appreciate occasional cooking for Baby Max and, at times, for the family. Care in the day is only required 3 days a week for one month and then after that it will be 2days.

We are looking for someone nurturing, responsible, and patient who can provide consistent care and attention. Flexibility is important, as the needs of a young baby can change quickly. We would also value someone proactive, who can step in with initiative where needed. The role is about supporting our family through this stage, ensuring Max is well cared for, and helping create a positive, calm, and loving environment in our home.
