Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Moin! (...that's how we greet each other here in Hamburg...)

We are a bustling, happy extended family in beautiful Hamburg. Our children are 9, 7, 5, 2, and 0 years old. My husband works a lot outside the home (he's a lawyer), and I'm currently a full-time mom. Our three older children go to school until 1 p.m. during the week. Then we eat lunch together before they have instrumental lessons, play sports, meet up with friends, go to the Boy Scouts, or just play and do crafts at home. On my own, I wouldn't be able to take the children to their appointments, put our baby to sleep, and help the older ones with their homework: We look forward to having you join our family! Since I don't work, I'll be able to enjoy lots of time together with you.

We attend a non-denominational Protestant church with many programs for all ages.

We have a large, beautiful room for you in the basement. It's wonderfully quiet—but it only has a small window. You could attend language school in the morning and play sports in the evening, be active in music, explore Hamburg, attend church events, meet friends, etc.

Hamburg is beautiful and has a lot to offer. Our house is located in Eidelstedt. We have a wonderful view of a small forest, yet you can still reach the main train station in 15 minutes.

Job Description

As our parents live quite far away and as my husband works a lot we would love to have some help. We would love you to support us every weekday from 13-19pm. Depending on your preferences you can choose from a multitude of tasks:
+ taking children to their sports, musics, scouts etc.
+ feeding our baby
+ helping the little ones to take baths, changing chlothes etc.
+ preparing birthday partys with and for the children
+ preparing snack together with the children (I prepare a lunch (about 13:15pm), snack with fruits/joghurts or cake (15pm) and dinner at 18:15pm)
+ taking our baby down for a nap
+ supervising our children while they play outside (we live in a "Spielstraße" - so all the children are officially allowed to play on the street; but the smaller ones need some adults to protect them from cars)
+ doing small errands with the children (for school supply, birthday presents for friends, fresh bread,...)

We have a funny three-wheeled and easy to ride e-bike (because of the third wheel you can ride that bike even if you never learned it) with four seats for children. Public transport is awesome as well.

As I love family life I am on parental leave. But we would LOVE having extra help. And I thing that you could enjoy the free mornings for language school and the evenings for activities in church or with friends or doing sports or exploring this awesome town.

If you like to help us out more you are welcome to do so! We would pay you additionally.

By the way: We are a Christian family and we pray that our children grow up loving Jesus and cherishing the bible, prayer and church. There is no need for you to be christian yourself! We would like you to respect us practicing our belief. And we would wholly respect the way you live!

Because of me being on parental leave we will never expect you to look after more than three children, except if you feel confident to / like to do it.

We live in a small town house. You will have a big and nicely decorated room for yourself (20m²) - unfortunately in the basement so that there is only a small window. The bathroom is upstairs and will be shared with our children. And because your room is in the basement you will have a nice hideaway whenever you would like to have it a little bit more quiet.
