Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear potential au pair,

We are a warm and loving family with four children, ages 11, 8, 4, and a baby born in September 2024. We are currently looking for a caring and responsible au pair to join our family from August or September 2025, for about one year.

We hope to welcome someone who can be like a 'big sister' to our children. We are looking for someone who enjoys spending time with children, and who is excited to experience life in the Netherlands. Most of all, we want you to feel truly at home with us.

Our three eldest children attend school, so your main focus will be caring for our youngest son during the day. He is a happy, curious baby who will be around one year old when you arrive. Experience with infants is therefore essential.

We have had two au pairs before, and both experiences were very positive.. You can find a reference from our most recent au pair in our profile.

The children understand English well, and the two oldest are able to speak it at a reasonable level. We are looking forward to welcoming someone who will become part of our family and share this exciting journey with us.

Job Description

We are looking for someone to become part of our family and help with daily life. Your main tasks would include:
- Bringing Elisabeth and Catharina to school in the morning (school starts at 9:00) and picking them up at 14:30.
- Caring for Samuel during the day.
- Helping with light household tasks such as cooking once or twice a week, doing some laundry, and assisting the kids with tidying up after playtime.
- You will not be expected to act as a cleaner; we just ask for normal contributions as part of the family.

The maximum working hours are 30 per week. You’ll have evenings and weekends off, as well as time off when one of us is home.

You will receive the maximum allowed pocket money in the Netherlands: €340 per month. We can also offer:
- A free Dutch language course, if you are interested
- A train card for free weekend travel
- A museum card for free entry to many museums around the country

Accommodation

We live in a light and spacious detached house with a large garden (550 m²), just a short walk from the city center and train station of Heerenveen. Upstairs, there are four bedrooms and a small bathroom (with a bathtub). On the ground floor, we have our living room, a workspace, and a large open kitchen, where we love spending time together.

You would have your own guest room on the ground floor, with large windows overlooking the garden. There is a small private bathroom attached, with a toilet, shower, and sink, to ensure you have your own space and privacy.
