Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hi,

We’re a friendly, busy farming family looking for someone kind and reliable to come and be part of our home. We have two lively boys aged 3 and 20 months, and have just welcomed a baby girl into the family!

We’re a working sheep, cattle, and arable farm, and during the summer months, we also host weddings and events, with accommodation also available year-round. Life here is peaceful but full of activity, and there’s always something to get involved in.

We’re looking for someone to help with the children, especially when the boys are not at nursery — along with housekeeping and cooking. We’d love to welcome someone who is fun, patient, and really enjoys being outside — because our boys are happiest covered in mud, climbing something they probably shouldn’t, or racing around the farm in wellies!

If you're simply looking to escape your country and settle in the UK, this probably isn’t the right fit. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being around young children — someone who can help stretch their imagination, grow their sense of adventure, and encourage them as they explore the world around them (usually at full speed and with grass in their hair or a worm in their pocket!). To show you're serious about joining our family and this experience, we do ask that you cover your own travel costs to get here. This is non-negotiable and we sincerely hope you understand our reasoning for this.

We live and work on our farm in a small village, just a 5-minute drive from the nearest town. This is a fantastic opportunity to improve your English, learn about British culture, gain hands-on childcare experience, and meet new people.

Job Description

We’re based in a peaceful rural village right in the heart of England, surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Although there isn’t direct public transport to the village, Milton Keynes Train Station is not far.... with trains to London in under an hour. Northampton Train Station is also close by, offering excellent connections for travelling around the country.

You don’t need to worry if you don’t have a driving licence: previous au pairs haven’t had one either, and it has worked out perfectly well with a bit of planning and support from taxis, Uber, and buses from the town just five minutes away.

We’re looking for someone to join us for around 35 hours a week in exchange for comfortable, private accommodation, a studio with ensuite bathroom and kitchenette—plus £150 pocket money.

You’ll always have two consecutive days off each week to relax, explore, or enjoy your own adventures. If you’d like to switch your days off occasionally, just let us know — we’re flexible and happy to help make it work!
