Job Description
We are looking for an au pair who is loving, responsible, and enthusiastic about spending time with kids. Ideally someone who has worked at an "asilo nido" before. Our main expectation is that the au pair will provide high-quality care for Aya, who will be 18 months old when you start. This includes engaging with her in a stimulating and nurturing way, helping with her daily routines, and ensuring her safety and well-being. Our second baby will have his own childcare until he's 5 months old in August 2026. At that point Aya will go to daycare and you'll be taking care of the 5 month baby boy.
The au pair’s tasks will include feeding, diapering, and putting Aya down for naps, as well as engaging in age-appropriate activities that support her development. You'll also be responsible for cooking her meals. Light household duties related to Aya, such as cleaning up after meals, doing her laundry, and organizing her play area, will also be part of the role.
Your typical schedule will be 45 hours a week, Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm. Some weeks, the schedule might be closer to 40 hours, starting at 9am instead. If at any point you're available and interested in doing any additional babysitting beyond the 45 hours, we'd be happy to pay $20 per hour for those extra hours. If not, no problem—we’ll arrange for a babysitter!
As for pocket money, you’ll receive the standard weekly stipend for au pairs in the U.S. caring for a single child. This will give you the freedom to manage your personal expenses while enjoying everything the Bay Area has to offer.
You’ll also have access to a car for exploring the incredible gems of the San Francisco Bay Area, though you’ll need to take care of the paperwork, applying, and driver’s test.
We follow a generally balanced diet and enjoy a variety of foods. Davide, with his Italian heritage, loves cooking and often prepares traditional Italian dishes as well as experimenting with new recipes. Though we are Jewish, we don't keep kosher and don't have any special dietary restrictions—we're more culturally Jewish than religious.
We value open communication and flexibility in our daily life. We often share family meals together, and you're welcome to join us in these occasions. We have regular family traditions, including Friday Shabbat dinners and our annual Chrismukkah dinner, which combine aspects of Jewish and Christmas traditions. These are important to us and we invite you to be a part of these celebrations, but you're also welcome to opt out of those and do your own thing.
Additionally, we appreciate a clean and organized environment, so light housekeeping related to Aya's care is expected along with regularly tidying up your own room and bathroom. We strive to maintain a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, and we are excited to share our routines and traditions with you.
We do not allow guests in the house or underage drinking.
We’re so excited to welcome you into our family and look forward to creating a wonderful experience together!
