Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello!

We're a family in the village of Saint-Pie in the heart of agricultural Quebec. We live on a hobby farm with goats, chickens and a dog. We are a community with our neighbours, and we want to build a better world through gardening, resilience and sustainability.

Our son Ilyas is being home schooled and we are looking to teach him more languages. He currently speaks English, French and Spanish fluently. Your role would be to accompany him for a few hours every day so his parents can work, and to guide him with his Chinese exposure, and his education more generally.

Job Description

Your job will be to spend 3-4 hours every day with Ilyas. We will provide you with all the materials necessary to accomplish your goals, which we will set with you. We expect you to engage with Ilyas in your primary language, and develop a friendship with him, and assist him with cultural, culinary, physical and community activities. We believe that through friendship with you that he will learn to speak Chinese fluently. He already has a base in Chinese, and we hope to bring it to fluency. We have already had success this way with Spanish.

Accommodation

We have a private studio apartment in our house, with private kitchenette, private bathroom, private bedroom and private office. The door to your studio will lock, and be your private space. We will also provide you with a car, and pay for your travel to and from the city.

We also have an apartment in the next door house that may be available, depending on the situation. This apartment is totally private, with two bedrooms, bathrooms and full kitchen. Depending on whether it is rented, you may stay here as well.
