Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hi future au pair

We are looking for an au pair / live in nanny to do around 25 hours per week initially, from May until July. After July, when our current au pair leaves us, we will then need 40 hours per week.

We have 3 boys, a 14 year old, an 11 year old and a 4 year old. The role from May to August is mainly to help with the mornings before school and Fridays after school. From September the role will be afternoons and evenings every weekday.

We need a driver and a clean driving licence is essential please. Light housework is required, as the house is busy and everyone helps to keep the common areas tidy and clean, does the dish-washer, does the kids' washing, but we also have a cleaner that comes once a week, so we do not require you to do any household cleaning as such, just keep the place tidy and ensure that our boys’ bedrooms are clean and clear, tidy up after mealtimes, do their washing, make sure uniforms and PE kits are ready for the next day etc.

We have a large house with an annex attached, in Woodford Green, London. We live 10 minutes to Westfield Olympic Park and shopping centre, 25 minutes to Central London (Liverpool Street) on the train.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Emma, Chris, Harry, William and James

Job Description

25 hours per week, Mondays to Fridays until July then 40 hours from July onwards. We pay an hourly wage and you will be paid on a per hour basis for all hours you do, rather than a weekly wage. All board and lodging is included. All overtime is paid, core hours are as above. There will be overtime available in the school holidays and some weekends if you want extra pay.

Main job duties are: help with the mornings, getting the boys ready for school, then on Fridays, making dinner; take to sports practices; ensuring our 4 year old is ready for bed. There is a certain amount of washing to do as the boys need clean uniforms and PE kits each day. Also some light chores eg helping ensure the house is tidy, clean up after mealtimes and stacking/unstacking the dishwasher etc. We do have a weekly cleaner so no cleaning duties per se though.

Role also includes doing homework once a week with our 4 year old.

Accommodation

We live in London on the Central Line. You will have your own en suited bedroom on the top floor of the house, and access to the whole house. The house is over 4 floors and has six bathrooms/toilets in total. There is a large garden with an annex (where our other au pair lives). We also live on the edge of the Epping Forest which is within 5 mins walk also.

The main central line station (Woodford Green) into London is 5 minutes walk away from our house, at the bottom of our road - very easy access into central London, but the nice thing is that where we live is peaceful and quiet and leafy and green, on the edge of the Epping forest but also close to all amenities.
