Dear Future host Family


Hallo,I am writing this letter to give you a glimpse of who I am and what I am like as a person.I am an African in search for my first family match ,I have been longing to be an Au pair and I am most certainly ready to be one soon.


My name is Nomathemba Mimi but everyone prefers calling me Mimi because it’s shorter and easier to pronounce .I’m 20 years old and I am single with no child .i love in Gauteng The Vaal triangle,zone 8 Sebokeng I matriculated last year in 2022 and I am taking a gap year .My goal is to be a professional foundation phase teacher one day ,I am passionate about it and it’s something I’ve always bragged about becoming while growing up .I come from a fairly large family of 11,I am the fourth child out of 8 ,I live with my Mom who is a security officer ,My Dad who is an electrical engineer and my other 7 siblings including me ,I have three older siblings but lost one last year,the other three of my older siblings now have their own houses and families .We have family days on Sundays where we always devote our time to visit orphanage homes and donate some valuables that we don’t use or we go bearing gifts for children and spend quality time with them as this means a lot to us especially my Dad ,and by far that is the most overwhelming experience .On some sundays we spend some quality time with family just cooking ,interacting and watching movies .



Being the oldest out of the other four siblings We have a 12 year old, 3 year old twins and a one year old who just discovered that she can now walk .I’ve always been the one to take good care of them since my parents work long hours I prepared them for school ,making lunch for all of us ,picking them up from school and kindergarten helping them keep up with the basic things they need to learn ,playing games or painting artworks which turns out pretty messy as the twins are still learning and getting them ready for bed after a little entertainment .As an older sibling I had to also take care of things in the house like cleaning doing dishes and keeping the house as tidy as it should be


I have so many hobbies that I consequently don’t have time to enjoy in one day .In my free time I always listen to music or read novels as that is my escape from reality because I get to live a thousand lives through novels,Music is my therapy because even when I am at my lowest music puts me in a most positive mood ,I love cooking ,baking ,dancing,swimming,running as I was an athlete in school I played netball and ran for Crosscountry all of which I am good at .i speak English very fluently and Afrikaans at a basic level ,i recently started learning other languages such as Deutsch since its not entirely different from Afrikaans which I did at school and I am fully interested in learning Dutch as well I love learning new languages and cultures which turns out to be more fascinating,I am most comfortable with foreign nationals . I Sometimes volunteer to help in a kindergarten which is three houses away from where I live ,i assisted with 8months-4year olds ,I love children and sometimes I devote my time to the children who struggle to keep up with the basic things they need to learn I am very patient with children and treat them with extra care and it earns me a little time to spend my time around children .


When it comes to most things I am pretty much independent and that is how I was raised ,to be an independent young women , i am very creative and patient .im not a picky eater I am in a pretty good health and I do not smoke to keep my health condition as good as it is .
I am looking forward to meeting you as my potential host family actually i am beyond excited and i cannot wait so that I can assist with childcare and light household work and im looking forward to learning your culture and getting to share mine too ,hopefully. I want to be an Au pair because it would mean spending more time with children and helping them gain experience and since I love travelling ,learning different cultures or language and being in the presence of children ,being an au pair would be the best opportunity for me to do all of that at once and to see if I can adapt in a different environment /teach myself how to adapt in a different environment besides the small one I grew up in
