Hello, dear host families. My name is Antonella; I am 18 years old, and I live in Chile. There are five of us in my family: my sisters, my parents, and our four pets. My dream of being an au pair began when I realized that two things I love were combined: children and getting to know another culture. I have always had a love for children, but where I was able to share with them and live different experiences was through volunteering. I learned to be creative so that the children were active and fun and to be responsible, since during that week they were in charge of six children. Mainly, be patient and tolerant, because each child has their own rhythm and personality. Be careful, know how to stay calm, and respond to various situations that arise. Furthermore, I have had different personal processes that have helped me get to know myself and my interests, so I feel prepared and excited to accompany and help children discover different hobbies.
I have different hobbies, but my favorites are crocheting, making jewelry, embroidery, and reading, but I am also starting some new ones like painting and drawing. Before, I had other hobbies like rhythmic gymnastics, where I was able to represent the school in Brazil, and contemporary dance. I don't do them anymore, but I really enjoy watching them.
I want to have this experience because I really enjoy being with children, sharing our different cultures and experiences, getting to know another reality, and being able to perfect my English. At the same time, I feel that I have a lot to give by being empathetic, loving, dedicated, organized, and taking initiative. But mainly, I want this to help me decide my professional career since I am between child psychology, differential teaching, and early childhood education. I have every desire and motivation to be your next au pair.
For me, the most important thing about my host family is that they are willing to make me part of the family and treat me like one of their own. We are going to spend a lot of time together, and for me, it is essential to make a connection beyond work and, at the same time, have independence to get to know different places and people during that time. I hope you let me share with your children the different processes and changes they may go through in order to help and support them in difficulties of any kind and accompany them to discover, explore, and develop different tastes, hobbies, skills, values, and knowledge that will help them personally.
