Vivid Sydney is an annual celebration of creativity, innovation and technology. The celebration spans 23 days and nights of Light, Music, Ideas and Food on the Harbour City Sydney, Australia. This year Vivid Sydney will take place from Friday 22 May to Saturday 13 June 2026, featuring light installations, music, ideas, and food across the city, including Darling Harbour and the 6.5km Light Walk. The celebration highlights include drone shows and specialized food experiences like the Vivid Fire Kitchen, and artist conversations.

Vivid Sydney celebration is managed and produced by Destination NSW, the New South Wales Government's tourism and major events agency. In 2025, Vivid Sydney Festival was awarded Best Tourism Event and Australian Event of the Year at the Australian Event Awards and received 24 medals, including 17 Golds and Best Overall Sponsorship Program and Best Sponsor Activation for the third year in a row.

In previous years, Vivid Sydney celebration has been recognised at multiple national and international event awards, including winning the Grand Pinnacle prize at the International Festival & Events Association Pinnacle Awards 2023, and being voted Australia Best Tourism Event in 2023, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2015, 2014 and 2013.

Vivid Sydney 2026 Program Highlights:

Vivid Light transforms Sydney’s streets, parks and buildings into a wonderland. Pushing creative and technological boundaries, the Vivid 6.5 km Light Walk spans large-scale projections, interactive installations, and cutting-edge laser and digital art on iconic landmarks. Drone Show will take place over Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour, delivering a spectacular aerial experience as part of the festival program.

Vivid Music delivers an electrifying lineup of global and homegrown talent, from intimate gigs to high-energy performances. Performers include UK alt-R&B star RUBII and indie-pop artist Chanel Beads at venues like Oxford Art Factory.

Vivid Ideas is where Art, Performance and Ideas collide. Expanding upon and reimagining the previous Ideas programming, Vivid Minds complements talks with festival-first artforms and events, including invigorating theatrical spectacles and immersive experiences. Features conversations with filmmaker Chloé Zhao and art critic Jerry Saltz.

Vivid Food brings together world-leading chefs in celebration of NSW’s dining scene and produce, as well as the stories, flavours and cultures behind every dish. Includes "A Shared Table" with Yotam Ottolenghi and the return of the Vivid Fire Kitchen at The Goods Line.

Hi, I'm Amaia, a 17 year old girl from the Basque Country (Spain). This summer I decided it was a good time to try something new, so I did some research and found aupair.com. It is true that I had already considered the idea of becoming an Au Pair, so I just needed to start looking for locations and families. All I had to do was to create an account and provide information about my interests, goals, friends... The next step was to contact different families and reply to their messages. I rejected offers, and I was often rejected myself, as I didn't meet the requirements of the host family I remember that one weekend in March when I went skiing at the house my family owns near the mountains. In the morning, before skiing, I checked out different new families and found Yulin's family in Finland; two children who, judging by the pictures, seemed very nice. They gave me very good vibes and I decided to send them a message. Everything else, you can figure it out. We started talking and made a video call to discuss each other's goals. Everything went great, so when I least expected it, I decided that they were going to be my match. I was thrilled that they had chosen me and that I would be a part of their lives for a month. Time flew by, and by the end of May I was with them. I was welcomed with open arms at the airport in Finland and everything went smoothly, great. I have nothing but good memories. My main thing to do was to help them with their English, since they had moved to Finland a few years ago, the children had not had the opportunity to speak it so much. We went to the park, cooked, played, read, climbed, swam… It was a very intense and nice month. The five of us got along very well, and they made me feel at home from the beginning. Yulin and Jimmy (the parents) invited me to be part of their family and even introduced me to their friends. It was an unforgettable month, I taught the children a lot, but I also learned a lot. To this day, we still keep in touch through video calls and messages. And now, they are coming to Bilbao (Basque Country) for Christmas to see me and spend a few days together. This experience has made me very happy, I am very grateful to my parents for allowing me to travel and to the family for hosting me so warmly and for making this an adventure that I will remember for the rest of my life. If you are considering this program, don't hesitate, it could become an unforgettable and very enriching souvenir for your future. And who knows, you may even find a second family!
