Dear future host family,

My name is Katharina, I’m 20 years old and from Austria. I finished high school last year, graduating from a vocational school with a focus on hospitality and tourism. Since then, I’ve mainly worked as a waitress. Through this experience, I’ve improved my communication skills, become more confident, and learned how to handle responsibility in a professional and positive way.

In the summer of 2023, I had the chance to work in Guernsey, and completely fell in love with the island. Ever since, I’ve been dreaming of returning to the UK to experience everyday life there again and to reconnect with that special feeling. BUT I AM ALSO HAPPY TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE WHERE I HAVE THE POSSIBILITY TO IMPROVE MY ENGLISH. Just a few days ago, I received my acceptance letter to study Psychology at the University of Essex, as a remote (online) degree starting in October 2025. That means I’ll be able to study from anywhere, and I would love to combine this with living abroad and becoming part of a new family.

Becoming an Au Pair feels like the perfect opportunity. I’ve always enjoyed spending time with children, especially looking after my little cousins whenever I had time. While I don’t have formal childcare training, I believe my caring nature, patience and responsibility make me a great fit. And since I might want to work with children in the future, this experience would mean a lot to me, both personally and professionally.
