Letter to the family

Hello! My name is Maisie. I have just graduated with a first-class degree in English and history, and I would love to spend a year doing something really exciting and meeting new people in a foreign country. I would describe myself as outdoorsy and sociable, but I am also a bookworm at heart, and I love to learn new things.

I have previously been a nanny in my hometown Bristol over the summer and it has been one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had. I was looking after 3 children who made the job entertaining and definitely kept me on my toes. By the end of the experience I felt we really connected and I still visit the children when I am on holiday from uni at Christmas or Easter. I know they have made a lifelong impact on me and I hope they found my company equally enjoyable.

I have never spent a year abroad before, but last year, I went to visit my friend who was studying in Vienna, and this trip inspired me to want to travel, as I could see how exciting the experience was and realised it could help me grow as a person. I fell in love with the city whilst I was there, and I would love to return to this vibrant capital.

Experience

During my time working as a nanny over the past two years, I gained a wide variety of experience and had various responsibilities. Some of these included driving the children to their swimming lessons, cooking meals and cleaning around the house, as well as receiving a small amount of online first aid and nannying training through the agency I was part of before I joined, meaning I already have a lot of great experience for being an au pair.

Apart from this, I have also previously volunteered teaching children swimming lessons and done babysitting for families in my local area, so I'm sure I will adapt to your family and can be relied on to help out wherever needed.

Whilst I currently can't speak any other languages, I am planning to do a short German course over the summer and I am a quick learner as I love talking with new people so I'll be able to pick it up once I'm there, as well as being able to help the kids with their English.
