Hello!

My name’s Ida. I’m a 20-year-old student / babysitter :)

I currently study in open university at Helsinki University (which means I’m completing some courses for my bachelor’s degree). More often than that though I work as a babysitter, through a company called ONNI, here in Finland.

In my work, I often take care of kids when their parent/s are working, or when the child is a bit sick and cannot attend kindergarten/school. On a regular day, this means I usually go to the family’s house, play with the kids, prepare them food, read to them, put them to sleep, change their diapers (if a child is diaper age), laugh with them, etc. I have many regular families, usually ranging from ages 1-7, and sometimes I go to completely new families. Even so, every child I meet is special, and I always want to do my very best to make them feel safe, secure, and happy.

As a big sister of two, taking care of the younger ones has always been important to me. I truly love what I do, and oftentimes my work doesn’t feel like a job, since taking care of kids and seeing them happy and in their element has always been very rewarding to me.

In my job, I don't just try to make the time pass for the kid/s, but rather I always try to create a connection, where the kid/s would feel safe and excited to be curious, and learn new things/ experiences :).
