Letter to the family
Hi. I’m Henna, almost 20 years old woman from Finland.
As a person I’m independent, initiative and in my opinion funny. I talk a lot, maybe a little bit too much sometimes but I always have something to say. Most of the time I’m really cheerful and I smile a lot. I try to find positive things about everything. On the downside I stress quite easily and sometimes I’m afraid of new things but I’m trying to work on that.
I like reading, writing, knitting, doing puzzles etc. I also play piano and harmonica. I’m not a hyper active person but I like to go on walks and run. I love spending time with my family and friends but also need some alone time.
Currently I’m a cashier at a grocery store and I have been working there for almost year and a half. I like my job, but it’s not what I want to do forever, or even more than couple of years. I’m still pretty open what I want to do with my life or what I want as my occupation. I am interested in psychology and criminality but also I’d like to work with children.
And why is that? Let me tell you. I have a pretty big family. I have two older sisters, 6 younger sisters and two younger brothers. So my parents have a total of 11 kids. I’m the third one, and have been looking after my younger siblings for as long as i can remember.
My youngest siblings are currently six, eight and ten years old and I have taken care of them since their birth, because our father was working hard and our mother was studying a new occupation in a collage.
I graduated from High school in June and after that moved on my own closer to the store I work in. I still live in 15minutes drive from my parents house and visit them roughly once a fortnight.
I would like to become an au pair for several reasons. First of all I want to see the word. And what would be better than seeing the culture and country from a local perspective. Second reason is that I love kids. I’d love to play and take care of them while learning about the country. Third reason is that I want to use english more and make it a little better. I have always loved studying and speaking english but it’s a bit different using it for real than in a class room.
The last reason sounds a bit cliche but I want to find or at least learn something about myself. I feel like I have been stuck in the system before it has even started. And that’s why I’d like to encourage myself to take the steps to unknown and go for it. I’m in my twenties and I have the whole life ahead and that’s why this is the time to see who am I and who I want to be.
I think that I would be a good candidate as your au pair because in my experience I get along with a lot of people. I think that living in such a big family has had a huge impact in that. It has also taught me that housework for example laundry, washing dishes and cleaning belongs to everyone who lives in the house. That’s why I’m of course open doing my part on those.
As I told before I also have a lot of experience in taking care of kids. I would say I’m also good with them, especially girls because as I said I have 6 younger sisters. I also have a driver’s licence if that is needed. I have had it for two years, and have driven almost daily since getting it. I bet with a little assistance I can drive easily in the other side of the world.
I apologise for writing so long profile and I thank you for your time and patience reading my letter, or should I say novel. I really appreciate your time and hope you contact me if this sparked your interest. Looking forward to hearing from you.
With love Henna
