Letter to the family

I have always been surrounded by children, as I come from a large family where I regularly looked after my younger cousins. I also worked as an au pair in Italy for one month, which gave me valuable experience living with a host family and taking care of children on a daily basis. In addition, I spent three years tutoring children aged 7 to 12 in an association, supporting them with their schoolwork and helping them overcome learning difficulties. Alongside this, I have also done babysitting and naturally enjoy creating activities, helping with homework, and building trust with children.

I will soon move to Lund, Sweden, for a university exchange program as part of my studies at EDHEC Business School in France. Becoming an au pair would be a wonderful way to combine my passion for working with children with the opportunity to immerse myself in another culture and support myself financially during this period abroad.

Thanks to my academic background in a highly demanding business school, I am organized, methodical, and responsible. I also have strong communication skills, I am a good listener, and I always respect the educational methods and choices of parents. For me, being an au pair is not just about childcare, but about creating a meaningful connection with the family, sharing experiences, and being a reliable support in their daily life.

Experience

I know what the daily life of an au pair looks like because I have already done it and experienced similar responsibilities. Taking care of children means helping them with morning routines, preparing meals, playing games, reading stories, supporting them with homework, and making sure bedtime is smooth. It also includes helping with everyday tasks like tidying up, cooking simple dishes, or going for walks and activities with the children.

These are all things I have already done: I have cared for children in my own family, been an au pair in Italy for one month, and supported kids through three years of tutoring in an association. I have managed routines, helped with schoolwork, cooked, played, and adapted to the needs of each child. These experiences taught me patience, adaptability, and how to communicate with both children and parents.

I want to become an au pair abroad because it allows me to combine what I enjoy : working with children, with my goals of discovering a new culture, creating strong connections, and supporting myself financially during my studies in Lund. For me, being an au pair is not only about helping but about truly becoming part of a family’s life.
