Dear Future Host Family,
My name is Laura and I am writing to you to express my gratitude in considering me as your Au Pair and Nanny. I come from a loving family from Indiana, and I have a passion for working with children and learning about your culture and other cultures.
I am one of the oldest cousins in my family, and my younger family members loved spending time with me. They also looked up to me, and would come to me for advice. I strive to be a safe space for a lot of people, and wish I could be a safe space for your family too. My younger cousins and I would always do creative activities together and we always planned fun activities to do that we would talk about for months afterwards.
Growing up, I remember my Mother being a babysitter and she would watch the kids at our house. I remember also getting attached to the kids, and becoming friends with them. I was always eager to jump in and help my Mom babysit and watch the kids. I also was in Girl Scouts the majority of my life, and that helped me gain leadership and patience skills. As I grew older and progressed in Girl Scouts I got a lot of opportunities to watch and help children learn and grow to be better. With the help of Girl Scouts, I took a red cross course, and got a babysitting red cross certificate.
Over the years, I’ve babysat privately for a local family and former children my mom used to babysit and I volunteered with my parents at my local church. At my local church, I helped lead classroom activities and care for children during services from all ages.
I want to become an Au Pair because I genuinely enjoy spending time with children and want to be part of a family where not only can I offer care, but creativity and a positive presence. Like I said earlier, I am excited to learn about your culture, language, and daily life while also sharing a bit about me with you and your children.
