Letter to the family
Hi! My name is Isabella. I am a passionate and hardworking 24-year-old girl from the suburbs of Orange County, California, a place full of sun, beaches, mountains, and a beautiful community of people, young and old. I was raised by a beautiful and hardworking mom who provided my older identical twin sisters and I with love, a wonderful education, and endless support. My mom, a court reporter, emphasized the importance of grammar, clear and concise speech, and reading and writing skills. Her example helped me gain a strong work ethic as well as a love of knowledge and learning that allowed me to excel in my schooling, which began at three years old and recently ended at 22 years old–though I still continue to make it a point to read and learn a little each day! In addition to school, I have worked at my mom’s court reporting agency–dealing with filing and organizing–and a 28-acre farm, in which I planted and cultivated produce sold in our farm store and donated to families. My love of children has been something that I have always had, even as a little girl. As a child, I helped take care of babies and toddlers with a woman who had helped potty train me. By the age of 10, my varying academic achievement awards caused my teacher to ask me to tutor a younger girl in an afterschool program. I have also spent many years volunteering at different summer camps and church programs in which I watched over groups of children between the ages of 5 and 10. My experience, while not professional, began at a young age with parents looking to me to watch and care for their little ones when they were not present, based on how I interacted with their children. My time in the Girl Scouts of America, a youth organization for girls focused on volunteering/charity work and fun adventures, has also contributed to forming my desire to help and care for those in need and most vulnerable. I have been blessed to have a large family that was made possible when my grandmothers both immigrated to America at a young age. My maternal grandmother came to America from Bari as a little girl in search of her mom. As a teenager, she met my grandfather. They wed a year later and had my mom and her three siblings. Similarly, my paternal grandmother came to America from Lombardy as a teenager. She met and married my grandfather before they had three children. Because of this, I am one of 15 grandchildren, many of whom already have their own children now too. I grew up with a large group of people who love me immensely, even family I have yet to meet as they live in Italy! Though my grandparents have all passed, their love of family and Italian culture are things I hold very dearly to me. I believe that my ability to solve problems as well as my deep love of children, creativity, patience, education, responsibility, adaptability, and communication abilities have prepared me to be a skillful au pair for your family! My wonderful future host family: Thank you for taking the time to read this and trust me to take care of your child! I can’t wait to meet you!
