Letter to the family

Hello! My name is Eduarda, I'm 26 years old and I'm from Brazil. I have 3 kitties and currently I live by myself, even though I see my mom and my brother very often. I'm in the middle of my graduation to become a language teacher, so having this experience would be amazing for my curriculum. Some years ago I also graduated from a minor degree at Pharmacy. During my free time, I like to stay at home, read books, watch TV shows and hang out with my friends. I'm also a writer and I do some freelance jobs as a literary agent. I would say I'm a very communicative, open-minded and curious person, because I'm always looking for something new to do.

I always loved to learn about new cultures and share my own culture with the world, this is one of the reasons why I spent most of my life studying languages, so I could communicate with most of the people. Now, I'm looking for an opportunity to increase my cultural baggage abroad my country!

I have always been around kids and elderly people. I came from a family where I had 2 grandmas and I was the one responsible for taking care of them all the time, besides doing some volunteer work at nursing homes. I also helped raising my little brother since he was a newborn and helped my best friend to take care of her son (my godson). Besides that, I did some freelance jobs as a babysitter in the condominium I used to live. So I learned valuable lessons during those experiences.

It would be amazing to take care of your kids and/or your elderly with the love, patience and respect we all deserve as humans. I will do my best to make this exchange program awesome for me and for my future host family! I want to be part of the family routine and I hope to have a great time with all the family. If you let me, I will prove to you that you can trust me!

Experience

When it comes to take care of kids, I had the experience of taking care of my little brother and my godson since they were born. My duties were to clean, change diapers, feed, take care, play with them - everything that you can imagine while raising a baby. That experience taught me about patience and being affective, it was truly life changing. But my favorite part was always creating new dynamic activities to entertain them and see their smile. It's amazing to see how they grow and be part of it! I love kids and I want to have my own one day, so having the opportunity to make a difference in your kids (and your family's!) life is incredible.

Now, as caregiver for elderly... I was basically raised by my grandmas: one of them had a seizure since before I was born so she couldn't talk or walk, so it was up to me during my teenage years to clean her, feed her, prepare meals, take her on walks (using the sit chair). My other grandma had Alzheimer's disease so I also had to take her to medical appointments, clean her, bath her, prepare her meals, calm her down when she had any sort of crisis, entertain her, all sort of things. Taking care of them was very grateful to me and made me understand how elderly people have a lot to offer even in a simple talk, so I would like to keep doing that while I can improve my communication skills.
