Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello! We are the family and we live in Brescia, a lovely city in northern Italy, located between Milan and Venice.

We are a family of four: myself, my partner Monica, and our adorable twins, Vittoria and Armando, who will soon turn six. Since they were born, they have filled our lives with joy, energy, and color!

I work in the financial sector in Milan, while Monica is a doctor at the city’s main hospital. Armando and Vittoria just finished their last year of kindergarten and will start primary school in mid-September. They already attend daily English lessons (about two hours a day) with a native-speaking teacher, but we would love for them to grow up in an even more international environment — to become familiar with different languages and cultures from a young age.

We recently moved into a new apartment just outside the historic center of Brescia, in a quiet and green residential area near the beautiful castle that overlooks the city. Our neighborhood is well connected by the metro, which takes you to the train station in just a few stops. From there, you can easily reach Milan (only 40 minutes!), as well as Venice, Florence, Rome, and Naples via high-speed train. We are also about an hour from the main airports, making it easy to travel across Europe.

In our free time, we enjoy going on trips with the kids or visiting their grandparents in the countryside. Brescia is a very livable city, full of cultural and practical offerings: language schools for foreigners, museums, theaters, classical and opera music venues, restaurants, and local nightlife. We are also close to Lake Garda and Lake Iseo — perfect for outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, or simply relaxing by the water.

We are a warm, open, and curious family. We would love to meet someone with a positive attitude, who enjoys being around children and is excited to share in this cultural experience with us.

Job Description

This would be our first experience hosting an Aupair, and we are very excited about this new chapter. We would like to offer a welcoming environment and the chance to be involved in our daily life and weekend activities — if the Aupair wishes, of course.

The Aupair’s help will mainly focus on supporting us with the kids during the week:
• Morning: helping with waking up, breakfast, getting dressed, and preparing for school.
• Afternoon/evening: welcoming them after school or take them from school to home, playing, reading, dinner, and bedtime routines.
• Occasionally in the evening (around once a week), we may ask for support when Monica and I need to go out.

Weekends will generally be free, except for the occasional Saturday morning when one of us is working and we’ll need a bit of help with the children.

In our new home, we have prepared a private single room for our future Aupair: it is bright, has a balcony facing the greenery, and a private bathroom next to it. The room is near the living area, allowing for extra privacy in the evenings. Our home is equipped with wifi and air conditioning — essential for the hot Italian summers!
