Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Au Pair,

We are Emilie & Bertrand, aged 37 and 38, both French living in Brussels.
We have 3 kids, Anaïs (7 years old), Timothé (4 years old) and baby Noé (6 months now but he will be 1 yo when your au-pairing will start)

We are living in a newly renovated typical Brussels-House in Brussels-Forest (close to Brussels's main train station, to its touristic city center, to 2 big parks (Parc de Forest & Parc Duden) but also to the more trendy neighbouroods of Ixelles & St Gilles) & our house has a garden.

We are looking for a nice, dynamic, reliable, trustworthy and cheerful au pair to live with us next school year - so from the end of August/beginning of September 2025 to the beginning of July 2026 (end of school year) and to take care of Anaïs, Timothé & Noé (mainly after school/daycare on the evenings to, play with them, develop real links with them and be part of our family)! We would be happy to welcome you in our family, exchange about our cultures and have our kids growing with an international and multicultural environment.

You would have your private bedroom and a separate bathroom situated on the groundfloor of the house.

You should speak / understand a bit of French (just to be able to communicate main elements with the kids - who are speaking only French - in case of problem). But we would like you to speak mainly English with them so they could catch up some English (could be also just with singing, playing, etc.). We, adults, speak French and English.

You wouldn't need a car driving license, everything can be done walking or by tram or by bike (we have a cargo bike to carry the kids that you can use - knowing how to bike would be strongly preferred).

Happy to answer any questions you would have! Looking forward meeting with you :)

Emilie, Bertrand, Anaïs, Timothé & Noé

Job Description

What we propose is - following the Belgium rules:
- 500 euros per month
- 20 working hours along the following approx schedule

5 days a week: pick the kids-up from school (around 4.00pm), come back home with them, play with them, give them bath/shower and continue play, until we come home after work (around 7.00pm).

One of these days (Wednesday), Anaïs & Timothé have extra-school activities, so you would need to pick them a bit earlier than 4pm to bring them to their activities (everything being feasible walk-distance or tram or bike) and then pick them up.

One of these days, we would ask you take care of the kids a bit longer (around until 9-10pm) so we could either work a bit late or do some sport or have dinner out!

Time to time, on Saturdays for example, we could ask you to stay home with the kids while we go out (ie. from 20H to 23H-midnight) - but they would be already sleeping so not much to do ;)

The rest would be relatively flexible and to agree among us together.

You would not have specific household work to do in our house (we have a cleaning person once a week) but we consider that as member of the family, you should participate in the daily tasks of the house (set up the table, light dishwashing etc.) as you would in any family.

Accommodation

We are living in a "maison de maître" in Brussels-Forest (close to Brussels's main station, to its touristic city center, to 2 big Parks (Parc de Forest & Parc Duden) but also to the more trendy neighbouroods of Ixelles & St Gilles).

Our house has 4 floors and also a nice garden. We just renovated it and moved in last year and we love it!

You would have your private bedroom (with garden view) and a separate bathroom situated on the groundfloor of the house.

We are living in Forest, which is one of the communes of Brussels.
We love Brussels (we have been living here as expats since 15 years) as a very cosmopolite and international town, with plenty of things to do (like in a capital but without being too massive like Paris or London - Brussels is very human-size). Brussels has many different neighbouroods and many parks (we live nearby 2 big parks) and also very cool social and cultural life.
We are living near the main station, which is also ideal to get out of town, time to time!
As Brussels is a "small capital", you can easily go outside in the countryside to enjoy more nature.
