Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear future au pair,

We are so happy you're reading this! Somewhere out there, there’s a lovely person (yes, you) thinking about joining a family to share laughs, daily life, and probably a few dance moves in the kitchen—and we’d love it to be with us!

Let us introduce ourselves. We’re a cheerful Spanish family of four: Enrique (the dad), Miriam (the mum), and our two little whirlwinds, Lola (7) and Marina (5). We live in a small town called Madridejos, in the heart of La Mancha—yes, that La Mancha, with windmills and Don Quixote vibes everywhere.

We run a family business called La Cocina de Enrique, where we cook traditional Spanish food with lots of love and garlic (don’t worry, we brush our teeth). We’re quite busy, but we always make time for cuddles, jokes, and homemade desserts.

Lola is curious, kind, and always full of questions. She’s currently in a deep phase of asking “why?” about everything. Marina, on the other hand, believes she's a unicorn most of the time and might ask you to call her “Princesa del Arcoiris” before breakfast. They're both loving, funny, and will probably want to braid your hair or dress you up for a pretend wedding within the first week.

We live in a flat. We also have a special place nearby called Villa Molina, where we spend weekends outdoors, playing, barbecuing, or organizing treasure hunts that somehow always end with chocolate.

We’re looking for someone warm, responsible, and playful. Your job would be helping with the girls—getting them ready in the mornings, playing with them, speaking some English (or Spanish, if you're learning), and maybe dancing a little to keep the spirits high. In exchange, we promise you'll feel at home, eat well (very well!), and laugh a lot.

We’re not perfect—sometimes we burn the toast or forget where we parked the car—but we believe in kindness, communication, and turning ordinary days into little adventures.

If you’re looking for a family that will welcome you with open arms (and possibly a plate of tortilla española), we might just be your people.

Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Warm hugs from
Miriam, Enrique, Lola & Marina

Job Description

About the Role:

We’re looking for an au pair who can become part of our family—someone caring, playful, and responsible who truly enjoys spending time with children.

Your main job will be to look after Lola (7) and Marina (5), especially during mornings and afternoons. This includes helping them get ready for school, playing with them, accompanying them to activities, and most importantly, speaking to them in English as much as possible. We’d love for them to learn the language naturally—through games, songs, conversations, and everyday moments.

We don’t expect you to be a teacher (unless you want to be!), but we do hope you’ll help them grow confident with English in a fun and loving way.

You’ll have free time during the day while they’re at school, and we’ll always make sure you feel comfortable, supported, and appreciated. You’ll have your own room, good food (seriously—we cook a lot!), and weekends off to explore or relax.

More than a job, it’s a cultural exchange: we’ll teach you about Spanish life, traditions, and probably how to make a killer tortilla. In return, we hope you’ll share your language and culture with us and become a big sister to our girls

Accommodation

Your Accommodation:

You will have your own private bedroom, a cozy and quiet space just for you, perfect for relaxing or video calling your family.

The bathroom is shared, but only because it’s where we keep the washing machine and dryer—you’ll still have your privacy, and we always respect each other’s space.

The house has Wi-Fi, of course, so you can stay connected, watch your favorite series, or listen to music whenever you like.

We want you to feel comfortable, at home, and part of our family!
