Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We are looking for an Au Pair to support our Italo-Canadian family in caring for our three young boys in Milan, Italy for 4-6 months starting in January 2026. We are currently hosting our seventh au pair and have been very happy with the au pair experience thus far. Both my husband and I participated in exchange programs during university, so we love learning about other cultures. We are looking forward to welcoming you into our home and showing you the best Milan has to offer. We are a bilingual household so you can brush up on your English and/or Italian. Our apartment is situated in the heart of Milan and I split over two storeys, offering you plenty of privacy with your own spacious bedroom, bathroom and laundry facilities.

Job Description

Our expectation in terms of childcare includes 8 hours per day during the week and 4 hours on the weekend. Occasionally we would ask you to accompany us on weekend getaways. Main tasks include watching over/playing with the boys, helping with laundry, meals and bed time, keeping your space and the kids’ spaces tidy. My husband works full time on weekdays and I work part time from home. The twins are enrolled at the neighbourhood pre-K from 9:00-16:00 (albeit they occasionally stay home due to common colds circulating in their classrooms). We do not expect you to take care of all 3 boys at once. Your time would be split between Oscar in the morning and the twins after school.

We are situated in the heat of Milan and is within walking distance to the most popular tourist destinations. We have two metro stations nearby and we would be happy to lend you one of our bikes. Milan is the world’s design capital and both my husband and I are designers so we know the design scene intimately. We look forward to showing you the best Milan has to offer, including great museums, shops and restaurants.
