Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

*THANK YOU ALL FOR THE INTEREST SHOWED IN OUR FAMILY. WE ARE NOW LOOKING FOR AN AUPAIR TO START IN AUGUST 2025*

Dear future AuPair, it’s nice to virtually meet you! First of all, we would like to thank you for taking time to read our profile. We appreciate it! :)
We are now looking for an AuPair who can arrive in late August 2025 and stay until July 2026 - we will treat you like a family member, we take a lot of pride in being a great host family!

We live in Ponteranica, literally just a few meters from the border with Bergamo, the biggest city in the area. The public transportation is just across our road, and it takes you to the train station, from where you can get to Milan, Brescia, Iseo Lake, Garda Lake, and several other destinations, also by flight! Bergamo is, in fact, the first Italian hub for low-cost flights and the second European hub! Our city is small, but it is so close to Bergamo that you won’t miss anything! Within a five-minute walking distance, you can find a supermarket, a pub, a pharmacy, a pizzeria, a boutique, a park, several cafeterias, and a playground. From our place, with a 30-minute walk, you can arrive in Città Alta, the old part of the town, and in Maresana, a small mountain behind our city. In our neighborhood, there are a lot of green areas, bike lanes, and parks where you can enjoy our beautiful warm weather.

Job Description

What we expect from our Aupair is as follows:
- taking general care of Sofia;
- tidy up Sofia’s room (and take care of your own room and bathroom);
- speak to Sofia in English --> This is mandatory for us: we want Sofia to grow up fully bilingual.

We successfully hosted seven AuPairs from September 2022 to July 2024. We are expecting to host our 8th AuPair from September 2024 to July 2025. You can find letters of recommendation from all of them in our profile. With their consent, we will also share their numbers so you can hear directly from them.

*2025/2026 year*
- Giorgio works in another city for a few days of the week: for example, he leaves on Monday morning at 6am and comes back on Thursday night. However, he is mostly at home during the weekends.
Giulia leaves for work every day at 7:15 and comes back around 2pm or 4pm, depending on school commitments or grocery shopping.
- Sofia will go to kindergarten, which is 7minute walking distance. The AuPair needs to get Sofia ready in the morning (teeth, clothes, breakfast) and then leave by 8 max. Sofia stays at kindergarten until 3:30/4pm. Either the AuPair or Giulia will go and bring her home, and then we will stay together until dinner time.
- The AuPair works for about one hour in the morning (roughly 7:15-8:15), and then from 4pm to 9pm. We are arranging that Sofia spends Wednesday afternoon at Giulia’s mom, so she will not be home until Thursday afternoon. When Sofia is not at home, the AuPair is required to take Grace for a walk, if the weather allows for it.

Every weekend is completely off and the AuPair is encouraged to travel Italy and Europe, or she can join us in our family activities! If we travel or organize any activities, you are more than welcome to join us and spend some time with us, our families, and our friends. However, we do understand if you prefer to discover Italy by yourself, and we totally encourage you to do so! Giorgio is full of ideas, strategies, stories, and restaurant suggestions to help the AuPair truly enjoy Italy!

We do not expect our Aupair to clean the house, as we have a cleaning lady that comes once a week. However, it is expected to 1. load/unload the dishwasher, 2. hang to dry some clothes, and 3. fold them.

We will offer you pocket money on a monthly basis.

Accommodation

We live in a detached house, with a beautiful front garden, and a vegetable garden. There are some steps leading to the front door, but there’s a canopy that protects you from rain and snow. We have three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen with a French door that leads to a porch where we sometimes eat lunch/dinner during summer and where we barbecue.

You will have a private bedroom, and a private bathroom to yourself, on the lower level of the house, with an independent entrance. There are some pictures taken by our second AuPair in our profile!
