Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We are excited to start this experience, welcoming an au pair to our house and family. It is a first time for us, so we are really curious how it will go. But the fact, that we can exchange and share our culture, languages and family time with an Au Pair, gives a nice thrill and a feeling of adventure.
We are very international and dynamic family, having travelled in many countries, experienced many memorable moments. But now we decided to settle down for few years, so that kids get a bit bigger and then hopefully we will hit the road again.
We used to have people at our place, we used to be very active Couchsurfers (Dad Van hosted more than a 1000 guests), we also hosted more than 30 Ukrainian refugees families since Russian invasion. Our kids are used to meeting new people and they love learning and exploring the world!
Why we decided to try Au Pair? First, because we are expecting a third baby, Mom will need to focus on the baby for the first few months. Second, because our boys are just crazy curious and active, and instead of just giving them a screen or limiting them to some boring activities, we want them to develop and grow as passionate, compassionate, and creative kids. And we believe an Au Pair can contribute to this growth greatly!

Job Description

We expect au pair to support us by spending time with our two boys. Luc is going to school on weekdays (except Wednesdays, as it’s non school day in France), Eric goes to kindergarten every day on weekdays. So basically we would like you to take or/and pick up Luc from school, sometimes Eric too. Bring Luc to extracurricular activities. Play with both boys in the evenings before dinner, and on weekends. To take them to the park for a walk, to playgrounds, etc. At home the dad is the cook so we always eat altogether dinners, but maybe we would need some help with giving breakfast to kids. Luc does not nap anymore, Eric naps once after lunch from around 13:00 to 15:00. Kids go to sleep around 20:00 in the evening and wake up at 7:00 in the morning.
Dad works for a web agency in the office, mom works for the same agency most of the time from home, just one-two days goes to the office.

Accommodation

We live in a town Villefontaine very close to Lyon (second largest city in France) it’s only 18min by train! But actually we don’t go often to lyon because we have everything we need around: theater, cinema, schools, swimming pool, parks, lakes, shopping malls… it’s a very green and family friendly place.
Our cottage has three bedrooms (so one will be set up for an au pair). We have small garden which opens to a big public park. The school is just 2 min waking, the kindergarten is 5min drive by car.
The house is old and basic in the sleeping neighborhood of the town. Your room would be next to kids room on the second floor. It’s a basic one bed room, which we can accommodate to your needs. We have plans to renovate attic but not sure it will be ready for your arrival yet. The bathroom and toilet are shared. There are two toilets but both are shared.
