Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Future you,

Welcome to Nanjing and our family! We are truly excited to have you join us soon.

Nanjing is a beautiful and unique city with a long and splendid history—it served as the capital for six ancient dynasties. Here, you’ll walk through time: explore ancient city walls that have stood for centuries, visit solemn historical sites, and wander in serene gardens that reflect traditional Chinese aesthetics. Beyond its history, Nanjing is also a vibrant modern city, where tree-lined streets blend seamlessly with lively neighborhoods.

Our family is warm and open-hearted. We deeply value cross-cultural exchanges and are eager to learn about your country, customs, and stories. In return, we’ll be your guides to all things Chinese: you’ll taste authentic local delicacies like salty duck, small steamed buns, and sesame cakes; we’ll take you to scenic spots like Xuanwu Lake and Purple Mountain; and we’ll help you learn Chinese, whether it’s daily conversations or interesting cultural expressions.

We hope this experience will be meaningful for you—full of new discoveries, happy moments, and lasting friendships. If you have any questions before arriving, please feel free to reach out.

Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Best regards,
Julia’s family

Job Description

We hope the new friend joining us will integrate into our life as a family member, truly experience Chinese life and culture, and accompany and play with our child. We also hope you can help our child learn English, while we can teach you Chinese and help you understand Chinese customs and traditions.

We will prepare a separate bedroom and bathroom specifically for you in our home. Our house is quite new, and the view outside the room window is beautiful too—we also hope you can keep the space clean and tidy. We will provide you with monthly living expenses, and we hope you can help with childcare or simple household tasks. When encountering cultural conflicts in daily life, we should understand each other and communicate in a timely manner.

We look forward to your joining our family.
